Registration is officially open for our CAFNR Summer Academies! These events give high school students an easy way to explore different career paths and connect with CAFNR while experiencing the Mizzou campus.

Ellie Samek, State Star in Agriscience!

Congratulations to Ellie Samek of the Bolivar FFA Chapter on being named the 2026 State Star in Agriscience!

Samek has built a strong foundation in agriscience through research and application across her poultry and diversified livestock SAE. Her work includes studying feed impacts on broiler performance, collaborating with Dickerson Park Zoo on raptor rehabilitation research and analyzing the effects of cover crops on soybean yield. Her research has supported both on-farm decision making and real-world applications beyond the farm.

Samek currently serves as Area X FFA president and has been active in FFA and several organizations including FCCLA, NHS, FBLA, 4-H and local agriculture groups.

After graduation, Samek plans to pursue a degree in agricultural education with an emphasis in communication and research, with the goal of returning to her family’s farm and supporting her community through agriculture.
