Through intentional training and mentorship, they are growing in both skill and readiness to serve wherever God leads. Each flight is part of a greater purpose.

At SOAR, our maintenance program is about more than turning wrenches. It is about preparing missionaries to serve where aviation is essential.

Through hands-on training, our candidates gain real-world experience working on aircraft while earning their A&P certification. These skills are critical for keeping mission planes safe, reliable, and ready to reach remote communities with the Gospel.

From the hangar to the mission field, every bolt tightened and every inspection completed plays a part in advancing the work.

This week our team is traveling to the IAMA Conference (International Association of Missionary Aviation). This gathering brings together mission aviation organizations from around the world to share ideas, encourage one another, and strengthen the work of using aviation to reach the unreached.

At SOAR, our mission candidate team is always evolving. As some complete their training and step into service around the world, God faithfully brings the next group of men and women preparing to answer His call to missionary aviation. It’s a beautiful rhythm of sending and welcoming.

Each candidate arrives with a unique story, skill set, and calling, but they share one purpose: to use aviation as a tool to advance the Gospel in hard-to-reach places. Through flight training, maintenance experience, partnership development, and discipleship, we walk alongside them as they grow in readiness for the mission field.

We’re grateful to witness God build this community season after season, raising up workers for the harvest through missionary aviation.

Dustin Penner has officially earned his Private Pilot Certificate, and we couldn’t be more proud!

This accomplishment represents countless hours of study, preparation, and perseverance. As Dustin continues serving at SOAR, this certificate marks a significant step forward in his missionary aviation journey. Each rating earned strengthens his ability to one day serve in places where aviation makes the Gospel accessible.

We’re thrilled to celebrate with our mission candidate, Michael Plummer, as he completed his first solo flight!

Michael is already serving in missionary aviation at SOAR, and this milestone marks continued growth in the skills he’ll use to support mission work around the world. Flying isn’t just transportation, it’s about bringing help and hope to those in hard-to-reach places.

February has been an incredible month at SOAR! We’re excited to officially welcome Jared and Sarah Lowell to the team!

Jared and Sarah were married in 2023 and welcomed their first child in early 2025. They met at Liberty University, where they discovered their shared calling to missions. Jared’s passion for aviation stems from his upbringing as a missionary kid, as his parents served in a remote region of Papua New Guinea. There, aviation played a vital role in bringing the Gospel to unreached people groups. Now, Jared is stepping into that calling by serving at SOAR as he prepares for missionary aviation.

Today we’re celebrating 14 incredible years of ministry! Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of equipping and sending missionary aviators who now serve around the world—flying to remote villages, maintaining aircraft, and advancing the gospel where few can go

At the same time, we’re deeply grateful for the close-knit community God has built right here at SOAR. Our current mission candidates aren’t just students—they’re family, walking together in faith, growth, and purpose as they prepare to serve.

We’re thankful for every prayer, every partnership, and every person who’s joined us on this journey. Here’s to the next chapter of seeing God use aviation to reach the unreached!
