❤️ We are grateful that Jackson's athletic trainer recognized the warning signs and acted quickly. Their fast response undoubtedly gave him the best chance for survival, and we wish Jackson a full and healthy recovery.

While Jackson's emergency was an aortic dissection, not a congenital heart defect, his story is an important reminder that serious heart conditions can affect young people—even healthy athletes.

At Team CHD Illinois, we encourage families to learn the signs and symptoms of heart emergencies, advocate for comprehensive cardiac screenings when appropriate, and support access to lifesaving emergency preparedness, including CPR-trained staff and readily available AEDs in schools and athletic facilities.

Every second counts. Awareness, education, and quick action save lives. ❤️

A teenager is recovering after what began as a normal basketball practice turned into a life-threatening medical emergency.

💛 Every act of kindness can make a hospital stay a little brighter.

We love seeing organizations like KMT Flowers using their talents to bring smiles to children facing medical challenges. Their beautiful, hospital-safe silk floral arrangements provide a lasting reminder that someone is thinking of them, even when fresh flowers aren't an option.

Today we celebrate more than Independence Day—we celebrate America's 250th birthday.

For 250 years, generations have dreamed, sacrificed, served, and built a nation founded on the promise of freedom and opportunity. While our journey has never been perfect, it has always been driven by the belief that together we can build something better.

As fireworks light the sky tonight, let's also remember the everyday heroes—our military, veterans, first responders, volunteers, and neighbors—who continue to strengthen our communities through service and kindness.

As a community built on strength, love, and support for heart families, we recognize the importance of standing together, listening, learning, and continuing to show up for one another with compassion.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is worth celebrating, history is worth remembering, and community is built through action.
