Huckleberries mingle with hazelnuts, oaks with bishop pines, creating a portrait of a beloved landscape and the simple pleasure of sharing it with friends.

This untitled ink drawing is part of a series Whitefield began in 2008 while providing artwork to Joanne Kyger for the Bolinas Hearsay News. Drawing on his formative years living between Bolinas and different regions of Mexico during the 1970s and 1980s.

In ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ด ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฅ๐บ, Wilson revisits a place where he sat to draw in 2009, returning during the early days of the pandemic to make this ink study in preparation for a larger watercolor. Folded to fit into his breast pocket as he carried it, the paper itself becomes part of the workโs connection to place and the experience of making.
