PRESERVING OUR PROPERTIES: Tamalpais Pacific awarded BCLT a competitive grant to make improvements at the historic Gibson House and 6 Wharf, the site of the BCLT offices and former Bolinas gas station, both located next to the Bolinas Community Center. The grant is funding exterior painting and new windows and curtains at 6 Wharf, and completing necessary maintenance projects — including new stairs — at the Gibson House.

We had so much fun building our float for this year’s parade! A huge thank-you to the BCLT volunteers — Board members, Staff, Residents, and Friends — who helped bring it to life.

Special thanks to our committee Co-chairs, Nick Bogle (BCLT Board Secretary) and Keith Ciampa (BCLT Manager of Properties and Capital Improvement Projects), for their vision, skill, and leadership!

¡Nos divertimos muchísimo construyendo nuestra carroza para el desfile de este año! Un enorme agradecimiento a los voluntarios de BCLT — miembros de la Junta Directiva, Personal, Residentes y Amigos — que ayudaron a hacerla realidad.

April Ginsberg concluded her service on the BCLT board in May. We are deeply grateful for the perspective she brought to the Board – as a resident who lives the mission every day, as a school counselor at Tamalpais High School, and as someone who understands what working families in West Marin need. She never let the Board lose sight of the true outcomes of affordable housing – the stability, security, and rootedness that allows kids to thrive and parents to breathe – results that benefit our entire community.

April joined the BCLT Board with clear eyes, high standards, and a commitment to centering her work around the people who are most impacted by the affordable housing crisis. She asked thought-provoking questions, followed through on her commitments, and stepped up as Board President when Jeff Clapp moved into the role of Interim Executive Director — exactly the kind of leadership that keeps an organization steady through change. Her integrity, transparency, quick wit, and huge heart set a standard we’ll carry forward. More than once her sense of humor cut right through a tense moment in exactly the way it needed to.

We hope her example inspires others to join us as BCLT members or Board members. We are greeting this transition with appreciation for the best practice of rotating leadership and the fresh energy it invites to the governance of a community-led organization. However, we will miss April enormously! We’re excited for her next chapter — including more precious energy for her beautiful family and herself, and the Bolinas community she loves so much. “It was like a community wedding — the love was strong, we all committed to each other, and even the people who cried had a lot of fun.”

That’s our favorite description yet of the 40+ Anniversary celebration at the Borg Barn. It also captures something true about what a CLT is at its core: a long-term commitment between people and place.

We’re still riding the glow.
