We are thrilled to welcome Trisha Fontan to the team as Philanthropy & Community Engagement Manager!

Trisha comes to this role with both professional expertise and a genuine passion for strengthening community. She will be helping deepen the partnerships and support that make permanently affordable housing possible in Bolinas.

Trisha grew up in Bolinas with her younger sister, surrounded by her father’s family. Her grandparents moved their four sons to Bolinas in the 1960’s and it immediately became their hometown. She brings 10 years of development experience to the BCLT, has multiple professional fundraising certificates, and a degree in Sustainable Community Development from Dominican University. Her philanthropic experience began by working for All Hands Ecology and she cares deeply about respecting our natural habitat.

Having been raised in West Marin she is passionate about ensuring there is access to long term affordable housing in our local communities. She enjoys spending time with her extended family in Bolinas, reading books, and is grateful to be raising her daughter with her husband in Bolinas.

You can find an interview with her on our website. Link in bio ❤️

✨📣 Don’t miss the opinion piece written by Jarrod Russell, executive director, and Annie O’Connor, co-director, which was published by the Pt Reyes Light today!

It highlights our work to create community-led solutions to the affordable housing crisis at scale by harnessing the power of collaboration.

Annie and Jarrod are pictured here with Hal Russek, executive director of — not pictured is the phenomenal Harriet Moss who represents Stinson Beach — and are vital members of our West Marin Housing Collaborative.

Huge thanks to District 4 Supervisor, Dennis Rodoni, for the multi-year funding and investment that has enabled us to grow and strengthen this collaborative approach. We are driven by impact, remain humbled by the work that remains, and proud of our results.

😎 FUN FACT: Did you know Annie and Jarrod first met over 10-years ago while earning their Master’s Degrees in Global Policy and Strategy from the University of California?! Personally and professionally, both are delighted and honored to be reunited in West Marin to work with and for our community on one of the most pressing challenges of our time. Many thanks to them, and all involved, for your service. ❤️

Reflections on “Mud Season” 🌧️

Winter in West Marin reminds us why housing matters — and why community matters even more.

When the power goes out in Bolinas and Stinson, we don’t just lose electricity. We lose internet, cell service, and sometimes easy access to the outside world. In those moments, we are reminded that what sustains us here isn’t infrastructure alone — it’s relationships. Neighbors check on neighbors. Wood stoves are lit. Volunteers leave their own families to respond to emergency calls. A patchwork of connection emerges that exists beyond the free market and beyond convenience.

This is “mud season.” And it reveals something essential.

Not everyone chooses to weather these months. But those who stay — by choice or by necessity — understand something profound: stable housing makes community possible. And community makes resilience possible.

At BCLT, our work to preserve and steward affordable homes is ultimately about ensuring that the people who make this place function — the firefighters, teachers, caregivers, artists, elders, and young families — can remain rooted here. When housing is secure, neighbors can show up for one another. When homes are affordable, families can plan for the long term. When residents are not displaced, the social fabric holds.
Affordable housing is one of the ways we honor our collective responsibility to one another. 🌱

We are deeply grateful to everyone who supports this work — whether you live here full-time, part-time, love to visit, or believe in keeping coastal communities diverse and accessible. Thank you for standing with us — in every season. 🌞

Our hardworking staff recently spent a day off-site together, enjoying a tour of McEvoy Ranch and learning about artisanal Olive Oil production.

What a delight to rest and be reminded that life springs eternal when our roots are healthy! Rebirth is part of the process on an olive farm. Often the healthiest new trees stand on the shoulders of those who came before.

🎉 As we turn the calendar to a new year, we are thrilled to share some extraordinary news — together, this community just accomplished something powerful.

In December, a generous group of anonymous donors pledged a $75,000 year-end matching gift to help close the gap in BCLT’s 2025 Operating budget. That challenge inspired dozens of supporters to step forward, give, stretch, and spread the word.

Because of you, we met and exceeded the Annual Fund match, raising an additional $82,080 in December alone!

Thank you Bolinas and Stinson!

This is more than a fundraising milestone. It is a real investment in housing justice and long-term affordability in Bolinas. Each gift represents trust in BCLT’s mission, confidence in our stewardship, and belief that our neighbors deserve to live safely and securely in the place they call home.

Thank you Board of Directors, Executive Committee:

President, Sarah Hake
Treasurer, Melinda Griffith
Secretary, Nick Bogle

Presidenta: Sarah Hake
Tesorera: Melinda Griffith
Secretario: Nick Bogle
