After much thought and reflection, We have made the difficult decision to postpone Idaho's first b***o race.

Over the past several months (honestly the last few years), my mom, sister and I have been navigating the challenges of caring for my father through Alzheimer's. With his recent passing and processing this loss, I've realized that I need to be mindful of where I invest my time, energy, and resources.

Happy Ass B***o Rescue has always been, and will continue to be, my top priority. The donkeys in my care depend on me every day, and right now my focus needs to remain on their well-being, the rescue's mission, and my own health.

As many of you know, the rescue is more than just a passion—it's a commitment. Organizing an event of this size requires significant time, energy, and financial resources, and we cannot justify taking those resources away from the donkeys who rely on them.

This decision was not made lightly. We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm, encouragement, and support that so many of you have shown for Idaho's first b***o race. While I am disappointed to postpone it, I know this is the right decision for the rescue and for me at this time.

Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your continued belief in Happy Ass B***o Rescue. The donkeys, Rob, and I are deeply grateful.

What a fun-filled weekend we had here at Happy Ass! 🫏❤️

We had some wonderful friends stop by for a walk with Happy Jack and Pepper Jack. The boys got to experience busy roads (actually, lots of busy roads!), barking dogs, waving flags, and all kinds of new sights and sounds. They handled it like champs and did an amazing job with their walking buddies. ❤️🫏❤️🫏

Then on Sunday, my mom joined me on a hay run to pick up a load of grass hay. I love that she still wants to be a farm girl right alongside me. 🩷 it’s wonderful spending time together doing the everyday work that helps care for our rescued donkeys.

Just another weekend filled with good people, good hay, and very good donkeys.🫏💕

Star 💫 update!

Happy to report that nothing scary came out of Star’s checkup at Idaho Equine Hospital! 🎉🙌🏼🫏🩷

Her bloodwork came back pretty normal with nothing concerning. We’re checking her p**p again for worms, and she’s been given another dewormer. This still could be small strongyles. Poor baby girl! (We gave her 3 different types of dewormer meds when we rescued her.)

Her amazing vet, Dr. Shane, also took belly X-rays to make sure she didn’t have sand in her gut, which can cause diarrhea. Good news — no sand! 🙌🏼🎉 Through my research, I’ve also learned that donkeys don’t commonly get sand buildup like horses can.

We’re starting Star on a low-sugar grain with prebiotics and probiotics to help get her tummy back on track.

According to her teeth, which help determine age, Star is around 5 or 6 years old.

We also took Captain Jack along so she’d have her comfort donk with her, and they both did great during the whole adventure. ♥️🫏

I’m so thankful for my volunteers! Lucie helped me load them, and she did such a wonderful job. Star and Captain really trusted her, and that means everything.

THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS! 🧡🫏🙏🏼

As a donkey rescue sanctuary, we truly could not do this without YOU. Every donation, every bag of feed, every bale of straw and grass hay, and every share helps us continue caring for these rescued donkeys and giving them the safe lives they deserve.

Your donations have already helped cover vet bills for Cracker Jack and Poppy, and we are so grateful for every bit of support.

We recently took Poppy in to have her teeth floated and thought she might need extractions… but great news — she didn’t need any! Yay, Poppy! 🧡🫏

Cracker Jack has also been acting VERY studly and aggressive towards his mama (me) lately, so we had his testosterone checked. His test came back negative, which means… he’s just being a wild teenage boy. 🤦🏼‍♀️💙🫏

We were also blessed with a donation of barley straw, which helped us tremendously. 🌾🙏🏼

Right now, we are once again asking for help for the sanctuary.

This Wednesday, sweet Star 💫🫏💛 will be going to the vet because she hasn’t been feeling well and has continued losing weight. We had hoped she would begin gaining after weaning Captain Jack, but she’s still much too thin and needs further testing and imaging so we can hopefully get answers and help her feel better.

As many of you know, diagnostic vet visits can become expensive very quickly, especially for rescues caring for multiple animals at once.

We are also getting very close to needing to replenish our grass hay and barley straw supply for the sanctuary. At this point, I’m willing to try wheat straw until we can get more barley in July.

If you would like to donate toward Star’s veterinary care or help us keep grass hay and straw in front of these rescued donkeys, we would appreciate it so very much.

Thank you for standing beside our sanctuary, believing in rescue, and loving these donkeys right along with us! ♥️🫏♥️

What a beautiful day welcoming from Boise to our donkey sanctuary for their animal Reiki class! 🫏💛💫
The donkeys absolutely loved the calming energy - and honestly, so did we. What an incredible gift from these talented Reiki practitioners to our rescued donkeys. We’re so grateful for the love, peace, and healing they shared with our herd here at Happy Ass B***o Rescue. ♥️ The Peace Room

Learning Animal Reiki in the Real World ✨🐾

One of the most meaningful parts of last weekend’s Animal Reiki Master class was our field trip to a local b***o rescue ranch.

There is something special about allowing the animals to guide the experience.

We even set up a tripod for our online students so they could send distance Reiki to the donkeys from afar. It was pretty amazing (and fun!) to watch one curious b***o walk over and begin inspecting exactly where this energy might be coming from. 💛

These experiences remind us that animals often sense energy in ways that invite us into deeper presence.

A heartfelt thank you to Happy Ass B***o Ranch for welcoming our students and creating a space for learning and connection.
