Idaho Conservation Corps

Idaho Conservation Corps Non-profit job training and education program for youth and young adults across Idaho.

Idaho Conservation Corps is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for youth and young adults to learn, grow, and experience success. We operate outdoor programs that help youth develop critical life skills; focusing on education, challenge, leadership, community, and empowerment. ICC programs include intensive 5-weeks residential camping conservation crews, com

munity-based conservation day crews, and AmeriCorps positions for young adults at least 19 years old. Leaders help youth in our programs gain essential job skills like a solid work ethic, teamwork skills, perseverance, and academic credit, all while learning how to become experiential leaders themselves. Leaders and young adults complete ICC having worked closely with public land agency partners, earned a paycheck, and become better prepared to meet their life’s goals. ICC crews work in communities across Idaho as well as many of the Gem State’s public lands on resource management projects like trail maintenance, non-native w**d eradication, and stream restoration. These projects benefit our public lands while helping to develop the next generation of citizen stewards. Idaho Conservation Corps is open to all youth and young adults looking to make a difference.

Congratulations to our graduated Urban and Community Forestry crews on completing their season!

From November 3 to May 1, these three "long-form" crews, one each in Boise, Tacoma, and Eugene, worked through the coldest months of the year to care for urban forests and community green spaces across Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.

For the last six months, they've planted trees, thinned forests, chipped woody debris, removed Russian olive and other invasive plant species, supported plant nursery work, and taken on many other projects that strengthen the health and resilience of our communities.

We are so proud of their hard work, persistence, and commitment to conservation. Congratulations, Yellow, Brown, and Red crews! Stay tuned for more graduation updates from NYC and ICC.

(Funding for our Urban and Community Forestry projects is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service.)

In honor of Earth Day, Idaho Conservation Corps is hosting a volunteer event on Saturday, Apr. 25th, from 9 am to noon, installing cages around trees along the Boise River to prevent beaver damage and picking up trash along the greenbelt.

Help protect this important riparian habitat and our only native stand of trees in the City of Trees!

All are welcome—alumni, interested parties, or anyone who would like to spend a few hours giving back along the beautiful Boise River.

And make sure to join us for a family-friendly celebration starting at 4 pm at Mother Earth Brewing.

Our Idaho Urban and Community Forestry crew partnered with the Lucky Peak Nursery to support nursery operations at this U.S. Forest Service facility, which grows trees, shrubs, and grasses used for restoration projects on public lands across the western United States. Crew members assisted with a variety of nursery tasks while gaining insight into how large-scale native plant production supports reforestation and land management efforts. As one of only seven Forest Service nurseries still in operation, this project provided a valuable hands-on learning and training opportunity for the crew.
