Protecting the natural resource that is Idaho’s Wildlife is so important. Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) CO’s like Off. Roos take that seriously. Off. Roos put her investigative skills to work, enlisted partnerships with colleagues, and made a difference. Not only that, just like the rest of the F&G CO’s, she’s a first responder who jumps in and helps in emergencies, back country crashes, and is an important force multiplier for her LE counterparts all over the state. We commend Off. Roos for her dedication and hard work, keep it up!

She was recently named the 2026 International Wildlife Crimestoppers Guidefitter Game Warden of the Year at the International Wildlife Crimestoppers Conference in Bar Harbor, Maine.

The annual award recognizes a conservation law enforcement officer whose service, leadership, investigative work and dedication to protecting fish and wildlife represent the highest standards of the profession. Officers from wildlife agencies across the U.S. and Canada are nominated, with one recipient selected through a competitive review process.

Cpl. McClain’s actions saved lives and made a difference in preventing even worse tragedy. Cops are always cops. It’s a unique mindset, even when trying to spend some quality time with family away from the job the instinctive reactions of LE Professionals can kick in and go to work. Well done brother! Trooper Steve McClain, who was off duty at the time, confronted the active shooter at the Twin Falls In-N-Out.

Specialist McClain has served with ISP for 12 years and is assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Safety program. He and his family are members of the Twin Falls community.

“My heart remains with the victims, their families, those who were injured, and everyone whose lives have been changed by this tragedy. Like many others who were there that day, I simply did what I believed needed to be done," said Specialist McClain
