Please take time to this survey for the City of Boise - Historic Preservation Plan Community Survey.

The City of Boise is working to update the 1979 Historic Preservation Plan to make it a relevant guiding document for current and future historic preservation initiatives and practices for the Historic Preservation Commission and City of Boise. The city is working with historic preservation consultants Northwest Vernacular to update the document, which will include reviewing the city's existing program, gathering community input, and making recommendations on a path forward. This survey is one way we're gathering community input to learn more about the historic places that are important to residents and how to improve the city's work in regard to those places.

New Year, New Logo!
Exciting news! The Hillcrest Neighborhood Association is working on a fresh new visual identity for our neighborhood—including a custom logo and signage—to better reflect the character, history, and charm of our community.

This new logo was made possible by the City of Boise's Neighborhood Improvement Program grant.

The next step of the rebranding will be to create street sign toppers that will be placed across the neighborhood.

Dear Hillcrest Neighbors,

Help us select a new design for our logo and future signs. Learn more about each of the designs here: Design concepts.

This identity project was shaped through listening—to the neighbors, the landscape, the history, and the character of Hillcrest itself. We began by sending a community-wide survey and received 26 responses with valuable input on what makes this neighborhood meaningful today.

We also spent time walking and driving the neighborhood to connect those insights with what we observed firsthand: its location on the historic second bench, ties to irrigation and homesteading, the influence of the Hillcrest Country Club and mid-century growth, and landmarks like Phillippi Park, the canal, and the tree-lined streets.

Together, this input highlighted qualities that define Hillcrest : walkability, friendliness, long-standing connections, mature trees and wildlife, and mid-century homes with distinctive charm. These themes guided our design exploration and shaped the logo sketches that follow—each offering a different visual direction for the neighborhood to consider.

We’re asking all Hillcrest residents to pick their favorite design:

The survey will remain open through November 21, 2025.

Thanks in advance for participating and helping shape a lasting identity for our neighborhood!
