For Their Thoughts Foundation is a nonprofit that aims to bring everyone together in order to
(1) reTHINK dementia
(2) Care for the family caregivers TODAY
(3) Unite & advocate as a community for the brain health of loved ones and ourselves For Their Thoughts Foundation Promotes: Bring HOPE and RELIEF through positive interaction:

How FTTF came to be:
Everything starts with being personal, and

FTTF is no exception. After my mom was diagnosed in her 50s and our family realized the HARDSHIPS, lack of public knowledge and general support for families impacted by dementia, I wanted to stand up For Their Thoughts Foundation to provide hope and relief for other families going through what may be the hardest time of their life. We UNDERSTAND:
- Dementia diseases (Alz, FTD, Parkinson's, LBD, Vascular Dementia, etc - are progressive and fatal and often doctors are not even equipped to do more than say "love your loved one and check back in."
- Facebook groups are often the main source of network for family members.
- Everyday with a loved with dementia is unique and ever changing. FTTF IMPACT:
Care for the Caregivers: FTTF provides direct help to those families that are overwhelmed - whether that be respite, home care support, paying bills and alleviating the financial burden, providing the opportunity for a special moment or wish, etc.-- our one time Care For the Caregivers (CFTC) Relief Grant allows the caregivers to determine what relief means to them. FTTF APPROACH:
Through positive awareness and events, we hope you join the FTTF family on our mission to : decrease the stigma and misunderstanding of dementia and increase the support for the millions impacted.

"Empathy is a skill — and one that can be taught, practiced, and carried forward."

200+ students later, Zaina Alhinn, FTT Dementia LiveĀ® Certified Coach, is still moved by every single class.

On April 10th, Zaina brought FTT's student version of Dementia LiveĀ® to El Cajon Valley High School in East County San Diego — where 34 future nursing students got to do something rare: walk in the shoes of someone living with cognitive impairment.

For 3–5 minutes, they felt it. And then they understood it differently.

"After every class, my inbox fills with messages reminding me just how meaningful this is. In some small way, I'm helping students feel seen and heard — while lifting the stigma around dementia."

Students nodding, raising their hands, staying after class to keep talking — those are the moments when a real connection has been made. šŸ¤

We’re just 2 weeks away from MoveFTT.

Every step, every mile, is more than movement — it’s support for dementia caregivers and the loved ones they care for.

Behind every caregiver is a story of love, sacrifice, and strength. MoveFTT was created to stand beside them in that journey. As a fundraiser, it helps provide one-time financial relief and a care roadmap for families navigating one of life’s most challenging seasons. For many, it’s a reminder that they don’t have to carry it alone — they are seen, heard, and supported.

Starting June 1st, our ā€œmile-a-dayā€ challenge turns movement into meaningful impact for families nationwide.

Join us, move with purpose, and help lift up caregivers and their loved ones — one mile at a time. šŸ’™

Registration closes May 31st. Click the link in our bio, or head to moveftt.org to learn more and sign up.

What Sharon thought was the collapse of her marriage was actually the devastating beginning of her husband Rod’s Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD).

The man she once knew as loving, thoughtful, romantic, and dependable began changing in ways no one could explain. Irritability, impulsive behavior, public outbursts, poor judgment, and personality changes slowly replaced the husband she had shared a joyful life with for nearly two decades. Therapists and doctors suggested stress, depression, even a mid-life crisis — but no one suspected dementia.

The moment that Sharon has realized her husband had FTD transformed heartbreak into understanding, and eventually into purpose.

Today, Sharon has become a fierce advocate for FTD caregivers everywhere. Through support groups, education, writing, and her ā€œTalking FTDā€ podcast, she reminds families that dementia is not ā€œjust a personality changeā€ and that caregivers should never face this journey alone.

Her message is powerful: assign the blame to the disease, not the person. Replace shame with education. Replace isolation with community.

ā€œWe can’t allow FTD to win. We must rise up, shout, and get involved.ā€

Thank you, Sharon, for turning pain into advocacy and for helping so many caregivers feel seen, supported, and understood. 🧔

Moving is about more than just hitting 1 mile a day.

It’s about the impact that one mile can make. šŸ’™

Our annual ā€œmile-a-dayā€ challenge, MoveFTT, starts June 1st — and every mile moved helps support dementia caregivers nationwide.

As a fundraiser, MoveFTT helps provide families with one-time financial relief and a care roadmap during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. For many caregivers, the burden of care can feel isolating and overwhelming. Through MoveFTT, families are reminded that they are seen, heard, and not alone.

Join us this June and put your miles in motion for caregivers everywhere. One mile a day can make a lasting difference. šŸƒ

Registration closes May 31st. Learn more: šŸ”— moveftt.org or click on our bio. 🧔

Meet Heather.

When her husband Kevin was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s in his 40s, Heather and their family were completely blindsided. ā€œWe were totally blown away,ā€ she shared. ā€œNever in our wildest dreams did we suspect Alzheimer’s.ā€

Now, as Kevin’s full-time care partner and mom to their four children, Heather balances the impossible—caring for her husband while making sure her kids still get to be kids.

With the help of the CFTC Relief Grant, Heather was able to bring in in-home care for Kevin and create special moments for her children, like trips to Legoland and Disneyland, giving them joy in the middle of so much uncertainty.

One of her children said, ā€œMom, today was almost perfect, but I’m sad Dad wasn’t there.ā€

Heather’s story is a reminder that young-onset dementia impacts the whole family—and that support means helping caregivers hold onto moments of childhood, connection, and hope. 🧔
