We're still shocked and reeling with the sudden passing of our friend and board member Matt Hicks. Matt was passionate about live music and creating more opportunities for people of all ages to experience it. He was always so encouraging and quick to share insights. Please read more about Matt in honor of his life here:

In 2019 we set the goal of acquiring our own building. The growth of the Treasure Valley made it clear that we needed to have a permanent location. In December 2020 we purchased a suitable (7000 sf) building with funds we had raised - one that would allow us to grow our impact for the future. We knew when we purchased the building that it needed serious renovations. Little did we know that 2021 would be a hyper-expensive year for construction (not to mention supply chain delays and other challenges). To make the project logistically easier we broke it into three phases: 1) a classroom space with over 12 rooms, 2) a professional recording studio and 3) a small venue (100 person capacity). We are almost there with phase 1! If you can support our capital campaign during Giving Tuesday you will be helping to empower the next generation of creative artists in our rad nonprofit owned space! Our new building will be accompanied by our adoption of the parent name Juno Arts (aka Boise Rock School will become a program of Juno Arts). Under Juno Arts we are expanding our offerings to include all aspects of digital media arts. We’ve worked directly with well over 10,000 young artists since we started in 2008. Youth matters! We are dedicated to an innovative and creative future!

Boise Rock School is so much more than a place where students can learn to play their instruments. We teach students of all ages how to play songs (including originally penned compositions!), how to record songs, how to perform at a gig in front of an audience and how to use music as an exciting tool to contribute to our community and have their voices heard.

If you would like to donate to help us empower youth through music, you can do so on our campaign at: https://www.idahogives.org/organizations/boise-rock-school
