Recently, elementary students across the Middleton School District had the chance to make their voices heard and vote for the mascot of their newest elementary school.

The mascot with the most votes: FREEDOM ELEMENTARY EAGLES! 🦅

Over the last two days, elementary students across the Middleton School District had the opportunity to make their voices heard and cast their votes for the mascot of our newest elementary school.

The polls have closed, the votes have been counted, and we’re excited to announce…

🎉 FREEDOM ELEMENTARY EAGLES! 🎉

What a fun way for our students to experience democracy in action while helping shape the identity of their new school! We are so proud of our elementary students for participating, making their voices heard, and practicing their democracy skills. 🇺🇸

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who shared their time, ideas, and support throughout the process of naming our new school and creating this memorable experience for our students.

And a special shoutout to our current elementary schools for hosting voting days and giving students the opportunity to participate in this exciting process!

We’d also like to thank Senator Tammy Nichols for joining us on voting day at Mill Creek Elementary and helping make the experience even more special for our students.

Where has ISBA been lately? Just about everywhere!

Over the past month and a half, members of the ISBA team have traveled to every region of the state, visiting with more than 60 members along the way.

From hearing about the great things happening in Idaho schools to learning more about the challenges our members are facing, these visits have been an incredible opportunity to connect, listen, and learn how ISBA can continue to support you.

A big thank you to every district and charter school that took the time to meet with us. We’ve loved seeing you across the state, and we’re grateful for every conversation!

At the 2026 ISBA Annual Convention, keynote speaker Sam Demma asks leaders to look at something else they carry every day: their mindset.

In a high-energy, humor-filled keynote, Sam will explore how the beliefs and habits we bring into the boardroom shape how we lead, respond to challenges, and serve our communities.

Attendees will leave with practical tools to stay motivated when conversations get tense, lead with purpose instead of pressure, and strengthen their board's culture. Because every decision made in the boardroom creates a ripple effect that ultimately reaches students.
