At Boise Sunrise, we strive to engage and enjoy the full value proposition of being a Rotarian. In addition to the various service projects we support, there is authentic fellowship that we share each Tuesday morning. These are individuals who are easy to admire and fun to dine with. The combo of service and fellowship is what we enthusiastically embrace as these photos indicate.

We inducted an impressive new member today in Mario Hernandez. We welcomed a candidate for Ada County Commissioner in KelceyMarie Warner. And the meeting extended by about 15-20 minutes as members spoke to each other about these various projects after we adjourned.

We don't vote the same way but we find lots of areas of common interest in serving our hometown and the world at large. We completed funding for a third preschool in Mozambique this morning while we also enjoyed a terrific program from Dave Krick about the Boise farmer's market. In a deeply divided culture, we find that service to the community and fellowship with other club members and guests makes for a powerful push back against these divides.

Life is better with this kind of focus and these kinds of high character friends. There are some special things afoot at Boise Sunrise. Taking a close look at this photo (Thanks, Blossom!) you can see that this Service Above Self also leads to fun and authentic smiles. I dare you to try and NOT smile back at this impressive trio!

We are an energetic and community minded crew of your neighbors and we seek to leave it better than we found it. These smiles occur on Tuesday mornings at The Riverside. Please come join us any Tuesday. We'd like to meet you and buy you breakfast. And maybe send you home with one of these smiles...

We are off to a good start into August at the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise. Miranda Loertscher of Family Advocates told us about the important work that they are doing every day in advocating for children in the Treasure Valley. Bravo to Family Advocates! We are proud partners in this work to serve our community.

And we named a new Rotarian of the Month today. Congratulations to Shannon Levinski! She is a new and active member of the club and we are very happy to honor her in this manner. The "necklace" on her looks good, yes? She gets it every Tuesday for the rest of August. An excellent accessory, we think...

One benefit of being a Rotarian is visiting clubs in other cities. I visited my brother’s club in Tehachapi, CA, this past week and had a great time hearing about their activities and had fun with their meeting traditions. I didn’t win the raffle though.

The second meeting of the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise for the Rotary 2026-2027 year was held in the Sapphire Room (Yikes; a music venue and a pub on a Tuesday morning...) this week. It was a delight to celebrate our new president (Hello, Joe Levitch!!) and to address basic club business like inducting new members and honoring new Paul Harris Fellows. We welcome Kathryn Lloyd and Mike Hicks to our merry band of over-achievers. And we celebrate Alexis Mageath and Laura Brown who earned new levels of recognition for their generosity to the Rotary Foundation. We are off to a good start. Let's go find new ways to leave it better than we found it!

We had a program recently at Boise Sunrise featuring Frank Kalange and the Mercy Kitchen at Interfaith Sanctuary. Frank and his crew do an outstanding job of feeding the guests at Sanctuary and we signed up for Thursday lunch volunteer help. Thus, this collection of photos.

As usual, we walked away with our hearts full as we saw how well this kitchen runs. There is a tangible feel to leaving it better than we found it with this kind of effort. Bravo to Mercy Kitchen and Sanctuary! We are proud partners with this impressive team!
