Boise YMCA Swim Team

Boise YMCA Swim Team This is the official site for the Boise YMCA Swim Team The Team is sponsored by The Treasure Valley Family YMCA and is a member of USA Swimming .

The Boise YMCA Swim Team is a year-round competitive swimming program for young men and women six years of age and older. We hold practices at the Downtown, West, Caldwell and Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA’s throughout the calendar year. Our primary objectives are to provide:

*** Meaningful experiences for swimmers at all levels with emphasis on helping members exemplify the YMCA core charac

ter values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility and Respect.

*** A competitive swimming program which will give all members the opportunity to attain their goals in swimming, whether they are at the local, regional, national or international levels. The Team is organized as part of The Treasure Valley Family YMCA and depends upon the YMCA for ongoing support by providing wonderful facilities for our many activities. In other financial areas the Team is self-supporting through income generated by dues, swim meets and Aquathon our primary fundraiser. We have an advisory committee called Swim Team Council , consisting of parents, swimmers, YMCA staff and coaches. As part of the National YMCA Swimming and Diving Organization, the Team follows the rules and regulations set forth by the National YMCA Swimming and Diving Committee. Our YMCA geographical area is termed West Field – Pacific Region North and includes Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and Hawaii. Each year we attend YMCA meets, including the YMCA Regional and National Meets. The Team is a member of USA Swimming, which is the national governing body for amateur competitive swimming in the United States. Because there are so few YMCA swim teams in the immediate area, the majority of the Boise YMCA Swim Team’s meets are under the jurisdiction of USA Swimming. Our Local Swimming Committee (LSC) is Snake River Swimming, Inc. (SRS), one of 59 committees nationwide. It is administrated by parent, coach and swimmer volunteers. Snake River Swimming consists of the geographical area of southern Idaho, eastern Oregon and northern Nevada. The majority of the swim meets we attend are within this area. SRS is a part of the Western Zone of USA Swimming (western United States). As a member of the Boise YMCA Swim Team, all swimmers must be members of The Treasure Valley Family YMCA and USA Swimming. Parents can also become non-athlete members of USA Swimming for an annual fee. As in all YMCA programs, no child is denied the chance to participate due to the inability to pay. Please ask at the Front Desk or a coach at either the West or Downtown YMCAs.

Meet Chili, she is just starting her training to become a guide dog for the blind. This was her first time to the pool and she did really good. Remember never pet or distract a service dog. Thank you to the Lomax family for providing this wonderful service.
