Clever fundraising idea, courtesy of Bob Rath. (Thanks to Scott for sharing!) Ask your volunteers to commit to donating $1 to their local legal services program every time they start speaking on Zoom without unmuting themselves. It’s a fun way to turn all these Zoom meetings into doing good!

Happy spring to our NAPBPRO members! Today we are announcing an open position with NAPBPRO. Please see below for the position description.

NAPBPRO Program Administrator:

NAPBPRO seeks a new program administrator. This paid/contracted position, encompassing approximately 10 hours per month, is the only paid staff position within NAPBPRO.

The program administrator is responsible for all member communications, facilitating NAPBPRO Executive Committee meetings, coordinating all NAPBPRO member webinars, program record-keeping, and various other projects and tasks as requested by the Executive Committee.

Generally, this position has a time commitment of 10 hours per month, flexible with the workload. This is a fully remote position, with travel only expected during the annual Equal Justice Conference when it is held in person. Work hours tend to be quite flexible, though there are up to two fixed-time meetings monthly.

Qualifications include a familiarity with and demonstrated initiative with basic technology (social media, web-based membership platforms, email platforms, G-suite, etc.), excellent written and oral communication skills, customer service/problem solving skills, and the ability to keep oneself and others organized and on task. Because this is a contract position, being a self-starter is crucial.

NAPBPRO hopes to make a relatively quick hire for this position, given its importance to our members and our work. Paid training will be provided to the hired candidate. We encourage all interested people to submit their qualifications and a short introductory email to Scott Wylie (President) and Krista Scully (Vice President) no later than next Wednesday, March 24.

Scott can be reached at [email protected], and Krista can be reached at [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you!

NAPBPRO is so excited to kick off our 2021 webinar offerings with this one!

Pro Bono Technology Innovations During the Pandemic. Speakers include Robert Roth, the Chief Innovation Officer for the Indiana Courts; Marissa Lavette, of the ABA Center for Pro Bono; and Scott Wylie, Executive Director of Pro Bono Indiana.

Please join us for a look at technology innovation during the pandemic that allowed pro bono providers and courts to continue serving low-income clients. We'll also be discussing lessons learned, providing an overview of what worked well and what didn't (from a provider and a court perspective), and previewing the ABA's Equal Justice Conference.

Hope to see you there!

The civil justice gap—the difference between the number of Americans who need civil legal assistance and the very few who receive help of any kind—has been widening for decades. One of the most significant challenges we face as we try to close this gap is the absence of basic, reliable national data about the people who need help most, the kinds of help they need, and the innovations and interventions that would be most beneficial.

Please join the American Academy as they introduce their new white paper and discuss these crucial topics virtually on February 9, at 4pm Eastern/1pm Pacific.
