Idaho Business for Education (IBE) is a group comprised of business leaders from across the state committed to transforming Idaho's education system.

We spent Monday and Tuesday this week visiting north Idaho and held impactful meetings with members and community partners. We want to thank our hosts and sponsors, Lewis-Clark State College, SEL Community—Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Kootenai Health, and Lake Pend Oreille School District. Ever come back from a summer trip and feel a little... foggy? Like your brain needs a minute to remember what day it is, where you parked, what your actual routine even was?

That's not just you. It's real, and it has a name: summer slide.

Now multiply that fog by 3 months where kids are away from schedules, structure, and steady learning. If adults feel unmoored after two weeks of vacation, imagine what an entire summer does to a second grader.

That's why the first weeks of the school year matter so much. Kids need patience and encouragement to find their footing again.

And finding that footing starts with the teachers who guide them there. Today, let's remember the ones who are starting to wrap up their own summer breaks, heading into training and prep, getting ready to help students settle back in too.

Congratulations to our very own Steve & Judy Meyer on being named the 2026 Grand Marshal honorees by the Coeur d'Alene Regional Chamber!

For over five decades, Steve and Judy have been true pillars of the North Idaho community - championing education, healthcare, the environment, and so much more. Judy has been a cornerstone of IBE since its founding and continues to serve on our board, and we are so proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

What a wonderful week to honor two people who have given so much to this region!

What a great evening! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Idaho Film Society last Thursday for our Southwest Idaho Member Mixer. Last Thursday, IBE's Christina Feliciano attended the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center Apprenticeship Graduation alongside Erica Johnson, Acting Deputy Director of the Office of Apprenticeship. Together, they celebrated graduates from the Construction, Electrical, Heavy Equipment, HVAC, and Plumbing programs.

These graduates represent the future of Idaho's workforce. Their dedication and commitment to mastering their trades deserve every bit of recognition — and it was incredible to see local employers, industry partners, and educators show up to celebrate them.

Workforce development happens through strong partnerships and employers who believe in the next generation. Congratulations to all the graduates. Our community is stronger because of you.

Congratulations to our apprentices at the Nez Perce Tribe and Ririe High Schools!
We are so proud to celebrate these incredible young people as they cross the finish line - earning their certificates and stepping into their futures.
On Wednesday, May 27th, 11 apprentices who participated through TYAP in Nez Perce were honored at a celebration for their completion of the program, and many received scholarships. These apprentices completed their training in the construction industry! On Friday, May 29th, they graduated from high school. Watching them be recognized among their peers and community is exactly why we do what we do.
A huge thank you to Laatis Lawrence, TERO Client Advocate/TYAP Sponsor for the Nez Perce Tribe, and our apprenticeship program manager for the region, Christina Feliciano.
Angie LeBlanc in eastern Idaho was instrumental in helping the students of Ririe High School complete their federally registered apprenticeship program in the early childhood and IT industries! Congrats to the schools and the apprentices for this incredible accomplishment.
