Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 23, at 10am, we'll hold a press conference announcing a breakthrough in one of Idaho's longest-standing cold cases.

In 1982, an unidentified man died inside a Boise church. For decades, he was known only as the "Unknown Wanderer." Tomorrow, ACSO Cold Case Detective Tim Cooper and Sheriff Matt Clifford will share who he was, along with a possible connection to the 1982 Tylenol murders. They'll be joined by forensic psychiatrist Dr. Park Dietz and The Official Unsolved Mysteries.

🏔️ Behind the Badge: Search & Rescue

When someone goes missing in Idaho's back country; lost on a trail, stranded on a river, caught out in bad weather, our county sheriffs' offices are the ones who answer the call.

It's a service most Idahoans never think about... until they need it.

Idaho's rugged terrain means search and rescuers meet unpredictable conditions. Sheriffs' offices coordinate these missions, often working alongside trained volunteer teams, to bring people home safely.

The Idaho Sheriffs' Association helps make this possible. Our members support training and resources so county sheriffs' offices are ready when the call comes in.

It's not flashy. It's not something you see every day. But when you need it, it's there.

For sheriffs' offices in the 22 states, DC, and the US Virgin Islands where Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) laws are in effect, the National Sheriffs' Association — in partnership with the Johns Hopkins ERPO Resource Center — is here to help. We offer training and resources to help agencies implement these laws safely and effectively.

Spencer Cantrell, Senior Advisor for Implementation at the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, explains why this partnership matters.
