Baskets of Gratitude
A program designed to thank healthcare workers and teachers. YOU CAN HELP. If you belong to an organization, their help will also be greatly appreciated.
To honor the healthcare workers who are working exhaustedly and putting their lives on the line to give medical care to those suffering from Covid-19 and other medical issues, Protect Idaho Kids Foundation (P*K) will once again sponsor the Baskets of Gratitude program. This is our fourth year sponsoring this event and we are expanding the program to include the teachers and staff of the six Community Schools in the Boise School District.
On Saturday November 19th, and Sunday November 20th, from 2pm – 6pm, the public can participate by dropping off Baskets of Gratitude at a drive-by at the north end of the Dillard’s parking lot at the Towne Square Mall.
People are asked to fill the baskets with crackers, candy, fruits and other treats, and cards or messages of thanks to the healthcare workers and teachers. For acceptable food items and other information on the project visit our website www.protectidahokids.org.
On Monday, November 21st, Protect Idaho Kids volunteers will deliver the baskets to St. Luke’s, St. Alphonsus, the Veteran’s Hospital and Veteran’s Home, and the six Boise School District Community schools. A giant thank you card with messages from the Mayor of Boise, the Governor, and various legislators will also accompany the deliveries. The healthcare workers and teachers will be able to enjoy the treats over the holidays at work or take them home to share with their families
Various companies will also be solicited to donate items. With enough response from the public and company donations, we can offer tasty food items to many of those who are doing such a remarkable job serving others. If your organization would rather just provide the food items, we can pick up the food donations and assemble the baskets for you.
In addition to delivering treats, the main purpose of the project will be to deliver a message of appreciation to the doctors, nurses, teachers, and staff thanking them for their remarkable service. We ask the public to enclose a thank you message with the baskets they donate.
The drive by location is located at the Boise Town Square mall at the north end of the Dillard’s parking lot. If you belong to an organization that wants to provide baskets, let us know and we would be happy to pick up the basket donations at your location.
