Rotary Club of Boise

Rotary Club of Boise Club Service--
Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club. ROTARY 4-WAY TEST: Is it the Truth?

Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world. Avenues of Service--

For years, Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self has been channeled through the Avenues of Service, which form the foundation of club activity. Learn about effec

tive club service in Membership and Training. Vocational Service--
Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Observed each October, Vocational Service Month spotlights Rotary club projects related to this avenue, offering opportunity for clubs and districts to use their professional skills in service projects. Rotary Community Corps--
International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace. Rotarians can support International Service by sponsoring a project in another country, seeking international project partners to support projects in their own communities, or by personally volunteering at an international project site. New Generations Service--
New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Rotaract and Interact, service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange . Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Rotary Club of Boise meets every Thursday from 11:30am-1:30 pm in the Crystal Ballroom.

Last Thursday, we had an emergency. Acting Pres Bea Black welcomed emergency physician, Dr. Gary Brandecker, who stopped by to share some insights on how to live a more healthy life. Not too many surprises but a great reminder to get a good nights sleep, regular exercise (150 minutes per week), and eat real food. It was shocking how much sugar is in our regular diet.

Great to see other Rotarians and welcome guests.

Great meeting on Thursday as Acting Pres Sean Wall welcomed Jim Wallmann, Bureau of Land Mgmt (BLM) meteorologist at the National Interagency Fire Center. Jim was able to describe the fire season we are heading into after a very warm, dry winter. NIFC is a central intelligence point for fire prediction across the US.

We got a preliminary report from Andrea Erwin Pettitt on Sip N Frolic 2026. Over $43,000 was raised to help fund the clean water project in Guatamala and the school playground equipment in Boise. Andrea truly deserves credit for taking our 'FUNDraiser' to a dramatically new level. Great fun was had by all. And we are appreciative of Lost Grove Brewing for hosting us.

Pay attention to upcoming projects and chances to get together.

Special recognition to the folks who have generously donated to the Rotary fund.

Sip N Frolic 2026 - smashing success. Thanks to all the generous folks and to our team leader, Andrea Erwin Pettitt.

What a treat. This past Thursday, we had a chance to hear from one of our most prestigous members - Jim Steele. He has been a Rotarian for over 50 years and is celebrating his 94 birthday.

His daughter gifted Jim with a book - His Story. It was a program that asked Jim deep questions over the course of a year. When complete, he edits and submits and they print a beautiful book of his story with pictures and life memories.

It was terrific.

We also welcomed visitors and guests and celebrted the great service project building beds. We have so much to be grateful for.

Our Thursday meeting, Acting President, Sean Wall, welcomed Veteran Enrichment Through Sponsorship (VETS) Program: Jon Wheeler - Volunteer

For members of Rotary International and the broader community, supporting veterans can start with simple, meaningful steps. Consider organizing a small group visit to the Idaho State Veterans Home, hosting a shared meal, or creating a recurring service day. If your club has members with unique skills; music, storytelling, crafts, or more, that becomes powerful ways to connect and give back.

It was an opportunity to remember the service our veterans provide and consider ways we might give back to them.

Nice to see friends and guests. Today, we handed out three new red badges to our newest members.

Our EPIC Day of Service was a huge success! We had an amazing time giving back and making a meaningful impact in our community. Together with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), we built 20 beds for children who otherwise would not have one of their own. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped make the day so special!
