🐕 IPCA TRAINING OPPORTUNITY — ONE MEMBER WILL BE SELECTED BY VOTE! 🐕

The IPCA will vote to sponsor one current IPCA member to attend the Decoy Workshop hosted by the Jerome County Sheriff’s Department.

📅 August 24–25, 2026
🕘 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
📍 Jerome County, Idaho
✅ Idaho POST-certified training

This hands-on workshop will cover proper decoy techniques and equipment, safe catches, problem-solving, scenario-based exercises, working dogs at multiple training levels, and more.

To be considered, applicants must submit a letter explaining why they should be selected and how this training would benefit them, their K9 program, and their agency. After reviewing the letters, the IPCA will vote to select one member. The IPCA will cover the selected attendee’s $300 decoy registration fee.

We apologize for the short notice. If you are unable to attend this workshop, another decoy workshop is planned for October in Ada County.

Please send your letter to the IPCA as soon as possible and share this opportunity with other IPCA members!

Applicants must be current IPCA members. Sponsorship covers the workshop registration fee only unless otherwise announced.

Good job!

Rexburg Police K9 Ozzy is now trained and certified to detect fentanyl.

Following trends we have seen in drug use and overdoses, Ozzy will now be able to help locate fentanyl in addition to the odors he is trained on, which include ma*****na, methamphetamine, co***ne, and he**in. As we see more of the synthetic opioid in our community, Ozzy will be able to help get it off our streets.

Ozzy's handler is trained in K9 first aid and carries a dedicated K9 first aid kit which includes Narcan.

PRESS RELEASE / PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATE

Today at approximately 2:29 PM, officers with the Twin Falls Police Department, along with law enforcement partners from surrounding agencies, responded to the area of In-N-Out Burger for a report of an active shooter.

Multiple individuals have been transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. Tragically, there have been fatalities. We are currently working to notify next of kin, and additional details will be released when appropriate.

The suspect in this incident is deceased, and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. There is a lot of misinformation going around on social media about the shooter and their identity. We would ask that people refrain from sharing information in an attempt to not share misinformation.

The area around In-N-Out Burger and the Twin Falls Visitor Center remains closed while law enforcement and first responders continue to secure and process the scene. We ask the public to please avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to continue their work.

The Perrine Bridge has reopened to traffic entering and leaving Twin Falls.

Anyone with information related to this incident who has not already spoken with law enforcement is asked to contact dispatch at 208-735-4357.

We would like to thank all the first responders who responded to this incident and continue to assist with the investigation, including law enforcement, fire, EMS, medical personnel, dispatchers, and our partner agencies. Their professionalism, coordination, and dedication are greatly appreciated.

🌊🐾 **A Much-Needed Break!** 🐾🌊

Today, K9 Bailey got a well-deserved break to cool off in Payette Lake. This was her very first dip, and it was awesome to watch her explore the water!

As we enjoy the beautiful days of summer, it reminded us of an important lesson:
**Dogs only see and experience what we show them.** It’s our responsibility to introduce them to new environments and experiences, while also ensuring they get the breaks they need, especially in the heat.

Here are a few reminders for fellow fur baby owners:

💦 **Hydration is Key:** Always have fresh water available, especially on warm days.
😎 **Cool Off Breaks:** Regularly pause for your pup to rest and cool down.
🛟**Safety First:** Keep an eye on them near water and ensure they’re comfortable.

Let’s give our furry friends the adventures they deserve while keeping their well-being in mind! 🐶❤️

Our canine teams had the opportunity to attend the Idaho Police Canine Association annual conference in the Treasure Valley this week.

Canine teams came from across the state to learn from renowned instructors on topics including Constitutional law, canine first aid, drug interdiction, and human trafficking. Thanks to the Idaho Army National Guard and other organizations, we had access to a wide variety of environments to simulate what we see in real searches and deployments. This realistic training better prepares us to help catch criminals and get dangerous drugs off of our streets.
