Tickets to the 2026 Heritage Homes Tour & Block Party are still available online until 7am on Sunday, 10/4/26. After that, tickets can be purchased in person at Adams Elementary School.

All guests need to check in at Adams to get wristbands that are required for entry into each home, as well as a booklet with home histories and a map of tour stops.

The Preservation Idaho Heritage Homes Tour runs Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check-in begins at Adams Elementary School. Tickets are available online and can also be purchased the day of the event.

The permit for a brick veneer dwelling and garage at 418 Mobley was issued in October of 1955 for Clair B. Johnson, a life insurance underwriter for Business Men’s Assurance Company. The Johnsons and their eight children were heavily involved in Boise’s social and cultural life.

By 1990, the home was listed for $139,000 and offered nearly 3,000 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and two bathrooms. The listing emphasized its all-brick construction, tile roof, geothermal heat, oversized garage suitable for a workshop or third vehicle, bay windows, family room, formal dining room, and fireplace.

On the exterior, the traditional white trim provides contrast with the otherwise fully brick Ranch design and massing. A covered central porch defines the façade, supported by ornamental iron posts with intricate latticelike detailing stemming from simple brick bases. The large central windows are divided by muntins, while the smaller bedroom windows have simpler divisions. Their generous size brings considerable natural light into the interior.

Built in 1953 for West Coast Airlines pilot Donald Alldredge, the home at 325 Mobley is a contemporary-style brick veneer dwelling with an attached garage. The gabled roof is particularly shallow, and the entry notably stands out due to its asymmetry; Its vertical siding and three successive windows starkly contrast with the surrounding painted Roman brick.

Narver's Folly is a single-story mid-century modern home showcasing a low, horizontal profile and broad hipped roof with deep overhanging eaves. The exterior features horizontal wood siding, brick accents, large windows, and a prominent brick chimney. A covered entry terrace extends over the front door, reinforcing the period’s emphasis on sheltered outdoor living and a connection to the landscaped yard.

Designed in a classic midcentury modern style, The Atkinson House showcases an asymmetrical facade with a double garage, vertical siding and hip-style low pitched roofs. The overhanging eaves provide both aesthetic purpose and functionality, casting strong shadow lines and providing ample shade, sheltering the front porch and limiting direct sun exposure on the windows. This design element, prevalent in midcentury homes, blurs the transition between interior and exterior spaces.

The Hummel House reflects midcentury modern architecture through its simple forms, clean lines, and connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Its flat roof was a defining characteristic of the modern style. The exterior features vertically aligned cedar lap siding, an unconventional choice that departed from the more typical horizontal siding of modern homes at the time.
