This past Thursday three members of the VOI technical committee(Rick, KL7BR, Jay, W6JVW and Alex, KJ7KIN) made the trek to our repeater site located atop 7582 foot Shafer Butte Northeast of Boise. The goals of the trip were to perform regular Analog FM repeater maintenance as well as to fix the APRS Digipeater which is heavily used by APRS packet users in the Treasure Valley. The digipeater had been off the air since late March. The APRS digipeater’s coax was found to be broken on the outside of the building, presumably due to ice falling off the tower located above the digipeater's antenna and coax. Rick, KL7BR was able to fix the coax and bring the digipeater back on the air to resume APRS service to the Treasure Valley. In addition to the aforementioned activity other site maintenance tasks were completed. For example, Jay, Rick and Alex completed the annual site equipment inventory and also completed regular maintenance on our 146.840 MHz and 444.900 MHz analog FM repeaters. Jay also cleared a large amount of very tough brush from the front of the building.
As always your donations and support are greatly appreciated and help keep our repeaters on the air and ready to serve you.
