In the next few days, you will likely become aware that we filed a brief in District Court against the City of Boise regarding Interfaith Sanctuary. Our intent is to get assurances that as the City continues to increase housing for individuals and families exiting homelessness (New Path 2.0, Apartments near BSU, housing behind fire station 5, and possibly even more housing off State near Veterans Park) that Interfaith Sanctuary will remain a predominantly family shelter in a residential neighborhood and that the mitigations related to their impact on the neighborhood are included in the permit, not just the Operations Manual that allows for changes without neighborhood notification. We have tried and failed in meditation. This is our best chance.

NIMBY comments will not be tolerated. We have ample affordable housing, immigrant housing, and housing for people experiencing and exiting homelessness in our neighborhood already. We love our neighborhood, our parks, the greenbelt that runs through it, and want it to remain a safe place for all.

Boise School District is considering amid rising facility costs and declining enrollment.

No decisions are final. But the District is considering school closures along with redistricting.

If you value the Sunset and Collister neighbors being part of the Boise High school zone, how would you feel if that changed to Capital?

Are Taft and Hillside meaningful neighborhood schools to you? How would you feel if one or both closed?

Many of y’all know how special and incredible Taft is. It’s one of the most diverse schools in the district with representation of over 18 countries and speakers of 14 languages. It has extremely talented staff that meets each student where they are and helps all thrive - no matter if they are in the special ed, non-native english speakers or high-achieving students who qualify for full-time GATE but parents instead opt to keep their kids at Taft.

Taft is such a special and diverse place and now these families are extremely worried they could lose their grade school, junior high and access to Boise High School.

The District is asking for feedback from all community members — not just BSD families.

There are two important ways to speak up right now:

Sunday, October 4 -- Annual Fall Harvest Party

Come join us for our annual celebration of the season and check out the new Nature Play Area at Veterans Memorial Park! We will meet at the picnic shelter to enjoy Corona Village Tacos, rub elbows with neighbors, and paint some mini pumpkins!

Our monthly meeting is this Wednesday, 9/2 at Veterans Park Picnic shelter at 6:30 pm. This will be a planning meeting for the upcoming fall harvest festival and pizza will be provided to those coming to help plan the party.
