The Boise branch was originally founded in 2004 and has been practicing in the area ever since. Our roots are founded in Shorinji Kempo which was started in Tadotsu, Japan in 1947 by So Doshin who reorganized techniques he learned while in China. It is considered a Japanese martial art but has roots in Shaolin K

ung Fu. In fact, Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese term which translates to “Shaolin Temple Hand Method”. In 2013, several US Shorinji Kempo branches separated from the main group and formed the American Shorinji Kempo Federation. American Shorinji Kempo Boise, Inc. is a registered Idaho non-profit and member of this federation. We are NOT affiliated with the US Shorinji Kempo Federation (USSKF) in the State of California or World Shorinji Kempo Organization (WSKO) in Kagawa, Japan. In order to further distance ourselves from them we have changed the name of our style to Ken Zen Kempo and have changed the federation and local branch names accordingly.
