Guide Dogs for the Blind - Boise, ID Puppy Raisers Guide Dogs for the Blind–Boise, ID Puppy Raisers are proud to raise puppies for the largest guide dog school in North America, Guide Dogs for the Blind

The Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. puppy raising group in Boise, Idaho. We are made up of dog lovers of all ages who want to be a part of pairing a blind person with a dog to give them a new kind of freedom. As puppy raisers, we take in an 8 week old puppy to keep for a year and teach house manners, basic obedience, how to behave in public, and give them the self-confidence that they will need to succeed. Our club meets once a week (every Monday except the first week of the month when we meet for First Thursday) at various locations. This gives us all a chance to ask questions, seek guidance and offer advice. Puppy raising is open to anyone who wants to be involved and we always welcome new prospective raisers to join our meetings! Visit our website for more information.

Welcome our newest additions to the club, Rex & Selah!

Selah is a female black lab from the Nobuko x Felix litter, born 7/23/26, and she is being raised by Jen & Emma Lomax and Pat Holmes. Fun fact: Mama Nobuko was raised in our club and this is Pat & Jen’s 2nd grandpuppy to raise.

Rex is a male yellow lab from the Frill x Drax litter, born 7/13/26, and he is being raised by Kalyn Mitchell.

Teeva is a college girl now! Her raisers said farewell and dropped her off at the Oregon campus on the 19th of this month. Puppy raising takes a village and we are so thankful for everyone that helped her get to this point. Go show them what you’ve got, Teeva the Diva!

PD: (1) Yellow lab, Teeva, sits between her raisers next to the GDB recall arrivals ‘welcome’ banner. Her raisers are smiling at the camera and holding hands.

Chicago was apart of the July 18th graduating class and has settled in wonderfully with his client, Joe! They’ve already been sharing lots of photos from their adventures together and we couldn’t be happier for them. Congrats to Mandi & Cade on raising such an amazing guide dog!

Teeva, Odie, Chili, and Truly made their way to GDB’s National Barks Oregon Funday over the weekend! GDB went all out this year and our raisers had such a great time.

We also wished Truly farewell after all the festivities as she’s being transferred to a new raiser in Texas who is very excited for her arrival! Pat, Jen, & Emma provided Truly with such a wonderful foundation and we can’t wait to see what her future holds from here!

PD: (1) BLF Truly and Chili’s raiser family are sat around camping photo props smiling at the camera. (2) Pat, Jen & Emma sit on the GDB bench smiling at the camera with BLF Truly in front of them. (3) YLF Teeva and BrBLM Odie sit in front of the Grand Canyon photo backdrop.

We also celebrated the partnership of Trisha and Kimball who were apart of the July 4th class. Even more special, Kimball is coming home to the Boise area! We hope to see the new team at future meetings. Great job to his raisers!

PD: Trisha, Kalyn, and Nikki sit on a bench with yellow lab Kimball. We are all smiling and looking at the camera.
