The City of Boise is beginning an update to the Historic Preservation Plan, which guides how the city identifies, protects, and celebrates historic places across our community. The Historic Preservation Plan extends beyond just our historic districts and touches every part of our city. From individual buildings and neighborhoods to cultural and community landmarks, the plan helps shape how Boise grows while honoring its history citywide.

The first step in this process is hearing directly from residents. We are currently collecting community feedback to better understand what historic places matter most to people and where improvements may be needed. This input will help shape the goals, strategies, and recommendations in the updated plan.

A public survey is now available and open to everyone: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/boisehistoricpreservation

If you would like city staff to attend an upcoming association meeting to provide an overview of the Historic Preservation Plan update and answer questions, we would be happy to coordinate.

If residents would like to learn more about the Historic Preservation Plan update, including the project background and ways to get involved, they can visit:

https://www.cityofboise.org/departments/planning-and-development-services/planning/planning-a-project/planning-process-overview/historic-preservation/historic-preservation-plan/

Thank you for helping us connect with the community and for your continued partnership. Your voices play an important role in shaping Boise’s future while honoring its past.

As part of Boise’s Comprehensive Plan, the Historic Preservation Plan helps inform land use decisions, design review, community investment and long-term planning efforts.
