🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: NAMPA CITY COUNCIL APPROVED $96,000 TO SURVEIL NEIGHBORS.

Last night, over the objections of the public comment, the Nampa city council voted to approve a budget that included $96,000 to replace/update 8 Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras, at $12,000 a camera, as part of a 6 year plan to replace all 46 cameras which are now "out of warranty."

Nampa Police Chief Joe Huff also asked the council to approve a $5 million levy for the police department to be placed on the November ballot. He claims that he is having trouble recruiting police officers due to budgetary restraints.

🚨🚨🚨Breaking: “Meridian Man” arrested on August 11th and booked into Ada County jail on a felony charge of child sexual battery — lewd or lascivious actions on a minor child 16 or 17 years of age, has been confirmed to be an illegal alien by DHS spokesperson.

In a statement released late Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security informed media that 32 year old Jose Alberto Moreno Cortes, held on a million dollar bond, was granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status by the Obama administration in November of 2013.

Moreno Cortes had previously been convicted of failure to produce insurance information in 2020 and driving with an expired license in 2023.

The DHS statement goes on to say, “from January 20, 2025, to July 31, 2026, nearly 90% of DACA recipients arrested by ICE were charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S.”

🔥 Lava Hot Springs is in hot water — and not the kind tourists pay for.

Documents obtained by Eireann Van Natta, Local Government Policy Analyst for Idaho Freedom Foundation, show the city has repeatedly failed to meet state transparency and auditing requirements for years.

đź’¸ Tax revenue has been withheld in at least 18 quarters since FY 2021 for noncompliance.

đź“Š The city has failed to report required financial data since 2021.

🧾 Records also show Lava Hot Springs failed to complete annual audits in seven of eight listed years.

Yet despite years of warnings, penalties, and “final reminders,” the problem remains unresolved.

Even more troubling? Bannock County commissioners laughed and joked while discussing the required public notice naming noncompliant local governments.
Taxpayers deserve more than paperwork, excuses, and shrugs. They deserve to know where their money is going.

IFF is digging into the local governments that too often fly under the radar.
