Our programs engage Idaho girls ages 12-18 years old in outdoor adventure experiences throughout Idaho's spectacular wilderness. We value and engage the voice of teens to help meet their needs and build skills to emerge as leaders in their peer group and community. Join us on our next adventure!

Adventure Mentor Spotlight: Katie Hampton!

Meet Katie! A Boise local and first-season Adventure Mentor who believes in pushing through the nerves, embracing challenges, and remembering that we’re always a work in progress.

After navigating several injuries, Katie is finding her way back to the sports she loves, especially hardshell kayaking. For her, the river is a place to challenge herself, keep learning, and embrace something bigger than herself.

One of her favorite Wild Hearts memories? Watching a group of high school girls bond so quickly on a climbing adventure that all six piled into a tent for a nap… only to discover a spider 15 minutes later. 😂

Katie believes outdoor experiences and community help us build resilience, prove to ourselves we can do hard things, and inspire others to do the same.

Adventure Mentor Spotlight: Carly 💜

Meet Carly, a second-year Wild Hearts Adventure Mentor and longtime Idaho local. Born in Southern California, Carly moved to Eagle in 8th grade and has called Boise home ever since.

For Carly, being wild-hearted means getting outside, trying new things, and continuing to challenge herself. She feels most like herself in the mountains, on the water, riding dirt bikes, hiking, or doing anything that pushes her outside her comfort zone. Staying curious, adventurous, and open to growth is all part of the journey.

One of her favorite Wild Hearts memories came from a backpacking trip when the girls decided it would be hilarious to eat an onion like an apple. Carly caught it all on video, and somehow they made that onion look genuinely appetizing. 😂 It became one of those silly moments they kept laughing about for the rest of the trip. Those goofy moments are exactly what Carly loves about Wild Hearts. The outdoors creates space for girls to connect, have fun, challenge themselves, and feel comfortable being completely themselves.

She believes young girls need opportunities to discover who they are outside of the pressures and expectations of everyday life. The outdoors gives them a place to make mistakes, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of. Leadership teaches them that their voice matters, while community reminds them they don’t have to figure everything out alone.

We’re so grateful to have Carly helping create those experiences and memories for the next generation of wild-hearted girls! 💜

...AAAANNDD that’s a wrap on the 2026 Adventure Season! 💜🎉

What a summer it’s been! From rivers and mountain trails to campfires, new skills, big laughs, and plenty of moments outside, we’re so proud of everything our Wild Hearts accomplished this season.

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible mentors, volunteers, adventure leaders, community partners, donors, and everyone who helped make these adventures possible. It truly takes a village to get these girls outside, and we couldn’t do it without you. 💜

And most importantly, thank you to all of the Wild Hearts who showed up ready to try something new, challenge themselves, and find their WILD. We’re already looking forward to what’s next! ✨

Until then... keep getting outside. 🏔️💜

Weekend recap - Astronomy Campout! 💜✨

One of our favorite Wild Hearts adventures of the year, Astronomy Campout, took our participants to Bruneau Dunes State Park for a weekend of sand dunes, desert exploring, campfires, s’mores, and some seriously incredible stargazing.

They visited Idaho’s only public observatory, got to explore the night sky through giant telescopes, and learned about planets and constellations. And the highlight? A special appearance from a real astronaut! 🚀🌌

A weekend full of adventure, curiosity, new friends, and a little nighttime magic. We’re already looking forward to next year! 💜

One of our favorite parts of camping isn’t the s’mores… it’s the stars. ✨

There’s something pretty special about crawling out of your tent, looking up, and realizing just how many stars are out there. Nights under an Idaho sky are hard to beat. 💜

One woman. 3,000 miles. One unforgettable adventure. 🌊💜 Join Wild Hearts on November 12 at Boise State’s Special Events Center (presented by the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts ) for an inspiring evening with Taryn Smith, the first American woman to solo row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Taryn spent five years at Redfish Lake Lodge in Stanley before taking on the 3,000-mile journey across the Atlantic, facing 30-foot waves, sharks, and relentless winds along the way. Now, she’s sharing the story of what it took to keep going and the role community plays in doing big things.

Our Intro to River Guiding adventure gave our Wild Hearts high-schoolers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a river guide, and they jumped right in! 🌊💜

From rigging boats and practicing safety skills to learning paddle commands, reading the river, and using throw bags to assist swimmers, they got to put real guide skills into practice. They even took turns commanding the boat themselves, all while camping under the stars and soaking up a little river magic. ✨

Along the way, they built confidence, practiced leadership and communication, and got a taste of what it means to guide others on the river. We think we might have some future river guides on our hands!

A huge thank you to our incredible mentors and Bear Valley Rafting for supporting this experience and helping introduce the next generation to river guiding. 💜

River stewardship in action! Last weekend, the Wild Hearts community joined Idaho Rivers United for a Boise River cleanup, picking up trash along the Greenbelt and giving back to a place we all love.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and helped care for our river and community! 💜
