New around here? Welcome to Wild Hearts. 💜

Wild Hearts exists to get teen girls outside and help them discover just how capable they are along the way. Through rafting, backpacking, camping, and other outdoor adventures, we give girls the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and find their people.

And we’re excited to now offer something for the grown-up girls, too. Wild Women Retreats are designed to create space for women to get outside, reconnect, challenge themselves, and build community.

Whether you’re a teen looking for your next adventure, a parent looking for meaningful experiences for your daughter, or a woman ready to get a little more wild, we’re glad you’re here. 💜

Welcome to Wild Hearts.

Kinda chic to be wild-hearted. 💜

To try something new.
To trust yourself.
To lead.
To have your friends’ backs.
To get comfortable being uncomfortable.
And to know you’re capable of more than you thought.

Being wild-hearted is always in style.

Through their eyes. 💜

This is the Leadership Summit from the perspective that matters most.

We handed the adventurers a CampSnap🏕️📷 and asked them to capture whatever felt meaningful over seven days in the Frank Church Wilderness. The photos in this carousel are all taken by the girls themselves, the moments they noticed, the friendships they cherished, and the adventure as they experienced it.

On the final day, during their solo reflection, one participant wrote a poem that captured what this week became. We couldn't share all of it in the carousel, so we wanted to share it here.

In the beginning of awkward smiles, adventure vans, and windy puke breaks, no one could prepare themselves for the journey we would take.

To uncooked chicken and late-night talks, the friendships began to grow.

From flights and horses, we tread the courses, and with this truly know:

It is not the rivers nor the mountains, even at their highest peak. Not the delicious food or cold swims or the paths that we take.

It's truly and wholly the friendships that we make.

It's E*'s curiosity, M*'s freedom, A*'s humor, A*'s giggles, J*'s heart, and O*'s openness that show how, even if it's short in time, the heart can still grow.

It's Raina's wisdom, Gabby's encouragement, Serena's drive, and Jess's cooking skills that helped us venture up and down these hills.

And though it's time that we must part, with cups full beyond belief, this experience and all these people are something we'll always keep.

When the mornings are cool and the night sky is full of stars, we'll know you and this place really aren't far.

Back on the horses for one final ride, I feel Jonesie and Dollar will always be by my side.

On the plane, viewing the big land will remind me of the paths we took, standing hand in hand.

Though goodbyes are hard after traveling far and growing so close, we leave this place with open, wild hearts and memories to hold close.

Seven days. Seven incredible teens. One unforgettable wilderness adventure.

Our inaugural Leadership Summit took seven high schoolers deep into the Frank Church Wilderness, where they partnered with Open Hearts for a week-long horsepacking adventure unlike anything we've ever done before.

Together they learned to ride and care for horses, safely ford creeks, cook in the backcountry, harvest edible and medicinal plants, paint with watercolors, practice horse yoga, and even participate in a ""solo"", a quiet opportunity to reflect on themselves and the wilderness around them.

Perhaps the most meaningful lesson came from the horses themselves: learning to adjust their own energy to meet the needs of another living being. Sometimes leadership means being bold. Sometimes it means becoming calm, patient, and steady.

We're incredibly proud of this group. They embraced the dirt, the bugs, the changing plans, and all the challenges that come with life in the backcountry. They encouraged one another, stepped outside their comfort zones, and transformed from strangers into a close-knit community in just seven days.

Here's to the next generation of leaders, growing one wild adventure at a time. 💜🐴🌲

🌊💜 Weekend Recap: Lower Salmon River Adventure!

What an unforgettable few days on the Lower Salmon River!

Our adventurers spent their time learning through hands-on experiences. Exploring stream ecology, rapid hydrology and erosion mitigation, building whitewater rafting skills, and practicing Leave No Trace camping along the way.

Most importantly, they worked as a team, built new friendships, and experienced the magic of spending multiple days on one of Idaho's most beautiful rivers.

A huge thank you to Wild Science Explorers for partnering with us and helping create such an incredible educational experience for these girls. We couldn't do it without your passion, expertise, and support! 💜
