Our origins in 2012 were based on the organization around the Idle No More movement established by our Indigenous relatives in Canada. "Idle No More calls on all people to join in a peaceful revolution, to honour Indigenous sovereignty, and to protect the land and water. INM has and will continue to help build sovereignty & resurgence of nationhood. INM

will continue to pressure government and industry to protect the environment. INM will continue to build allies in order to reframe the nation to nation relationship, this will be done by including grassroots perspectives, issues, and concern." We honor these tenets and have adapted to them to guide our work as the Indigenous Idaho Alliance. We use a lens of decolonization to build and empower community, while tirelessly advocating for the land, justice, and equity for our people.

attention community:

community talking circles on housing + survivor experiences are coming up and this is your invite to be in the room (or the virtual room.)

we’re talking about what it feels like to navigate housing systems as survivors, advocates, and community. the barriers, the brilliance, the truth of it all.

two circles:
april 15, 5:30pm — survivors/experiencers
april 16, 11am — providers + advocates

here’s the good part:
• food will be there (because we don’t gather hungry)
• survivor/experiencer participants get a $50 stipend + gas support
• small, confidential, intentional space: not a crowd, a circle

this is about storytelling, connection, and shifting what support actually looks like. if you’ve been holding, navigating, or building something, we want your voice.

RSVP: [email protected]
in person (boise) + virtual options available

come sit with us.

Regarding the shocking allegations recently published in The New York Times detailing sexual misconduct by one of the most influential labor leaders in U.S. history and the statement issued by civil rights icon Dolores Huerta, we at Indigenous Idaho Alliance (IIA) are heartbroken. We stand with all survivors of sexual violence. We believe those who come forward and support mechanisms for healing and accountability.

More than half of all Native women in the United States experience sexual violence in their lifetime; one in three experience r**e. Sexual violence against Indigenous women has long been used as a tool of colonial violence and conquest. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence and you are seeking help or resources, please visit our partner Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence at https://idahocoalition.org/get-help.

For more information, visit:
the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center at https://www.niwrc.org/resources/topic/sexual-violence.

IIA also acknowledges that the Farmworkers Movement was never about one man — it was built by thousands who fought for justice. IIA stands in solidarity with farmworker communities and honors those who came before us. Through their sacrifices, courage, and organizing, they built a Movement capable of shifting power and changing material conditions.

Support a Nez Perce (Nimiipuu) youth getting to Boston + DC

Creating opportunities for young Native students to see the world, learn how our systems work, and imagine themselves inside in the future is crucial. Monroe is Nimiipuu youth with a big heart and deep curiosity. She has a growing interest in gender-based violence prevention, MMIP, and caring for her community. This summer, she has the opportunity to travel to Boston, MA and Washington, DC on an educational trip, and we’re helping make that possible.

One of these photos captures a powerful moment with Bree Black Horse, reflecting Monroe’s desire to learn, ask questions, and understand how advocacy and justice work in the real world.

She’s an avid stick gamer, always helping out, endlessly curious; Our goal is $1,500. Small gifts add up and make access possible.

If you’re able, please support via Venmo (or message us for a more private way to give)

Our story celebration night was magic. ✨

Over 50 relatives, littles, aunties, educators, and community storytellers packed into the Linen Building to welcome Shoshone-Paiute author Antoinette Cavanaugh and her beautiful bilingual book Tammi’ tetevini, “Ne Hakannai Kimmakkante?”.

We ate, listened, and laughed together. We held space for big questions from our young readers and our grown ones too. The room felt soft and bright in that way only community can make it.

If you joined us, thank you for bringing your full selves. If you couldn’t make it, we hope to see you at the next gathering. And please continue connecting with Antoinette & Norm Cavanaugh, two of our community’s most respected Indigenous storytellers and knowledge keepers. Their work is a grounding reminder that our languages and our futures are still very much alive.
