Boise Open Space Alliance BOSA

Boise Open Space Alliance BOSA We are friends, neighbors, & families who care about preserving open space in the City of Boise. OUR GOALS:
To preserve open space in Southwest Boise.

We are friends, neighbors, & families who care about preserving open space in the city of Boise. We value our city's neighborhoods, parks, trails, rivers, wildlife, and desire to see these preserved for current and future generations. We stand for sensible growth that balances the needs of a growing city with the needs of its citizens. We believe there can be a balance between growth and keeping t

he character of Boise's many neighborhoods. We believe locally elected officials should represent all the city and not just certain areas. We believe they should listen to their citizens and demonstrate reasonable governance in matters such as rezoning and development. We believe neighbors should unite when their voices and concerns are not heard. We affirm the notion that we are stronger together and united we can influence change. We support other neighbors, associations, and individuals who stand up for preserving unique areas in the city we love. To prevent large developers from bullying citizens. To support other neighborhoods around our city who have similar desires
To resist local governments and elected officials that neglect the needs of their citizens.

In 2025, the City of Boise and Ada County will renegotiate the area of impact (AOI). In 2024, Senate Bill 1403 was enacted, which would allow cities to hold an area of impact that is LIKELY to be annexed within 5 years and only within 2 miles of the city limits. As many of you know, the Boise area of impact has been in place for decades with no plan in place for when or how annexation will occur. SB1403 changes that. Please attend our meeting on Thursday, December 5th to hear first-hand from Boise City and Ada County on changes coming soon that will affect the area of impact and how you can participate in public hearings next year.

Will Murgoitio Park be in the 5-year AOI?

Some good info about the fires up in Stanley. Thoughts and prayers for all those helping fight it.

Although it has been an emotional and trying few days here in Stanley, Idaho, we are reflecting on cherished memories of our beloved Redfish Lake. There are still ways you can support Stanley and the Redfish community during this time:

👉Stanley, Idaho is Still Open: Despite the situation at Redfish, Stanley remains open, and our air quality fluctuates but remains manageable. Thanks to the wind and the stunning Idaho Dark Sky, we continue our adventures and operations as usual outside the Redfish Lake area.

👉Please Don’t Cancel Your Trips: Your support means the world to our small community, especially now. Visiting Stanley and enjoying its many attractions is incredibly impactful.

👉Recreate Responsibly: This encompasses several key actions. Firstly, note that Stage 1 fire restrictions will go into effect on Wednesday, meaning campfires are only allowed at paid campsites. Secondly, avoid spreading false information about the state of Stanley. Lastly, stay informed about any developments by visiting https://m.facebook.com/SVWFC/.

👉If you want a first hand look at Redfish Lake and the air quality in Stanley, you can visit our website at https://stanleycc.org/live-webcams/

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. Let's continue to enjoy and preserve the beauty of Stanley together.

More foothills land being bought and protected and still South Boise has very little in Open Space protection or parks. Would be nice to see some balance in the city.

Boise plans to use Clean Water and Open Space Levy funds to purchase the land. The move could be approved at the May 21 city council meeting.

The Murio Farms subdivision is scheduled to be heard in front of Planning and Zoning on Monday March 4th @ 6:00 pm. The article below shares some important info and some impacts this development likely will have. Get informed and attend Planning and Zoning on Monday.

The City of Boise says annexing a large piece of farmland in SW Ada County with a plan for thousands of homes doesn’t make financial sense for taxpayers. And, the Ada County Highway District says it will add traffic congestion. As BoiseDev first reported in 2021, the Murgoitio family hopes the cit...
