The Pearl Foundation was founded in 2007 by Darrell and Linda Hinson after making numerous short term mission trips to Nicaragua beginning in 2000. We fell in love with the people and knew that one day we wanted to live in Nicaragua and minister to the needs of the people. We were sent out with the blessings of our church, Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. The mission of The Pe
arl Foundation is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and show the love of our Lord to the people of Nicaragua through Feeding Programs, Back Yard Bible Clubs for the children, Discipleship classes, Sports Ministry, Prison Ministry, Feeding Program at the local dump and Nursing Home Ministry. Our goal is to build long term relationships with the children and adults in our ministry. In November 2016 we purchased property in the heart of Pantanal Barrio where the Children's Feeding Program, 2 Back Yard Bible Clubs, 3 Discipleship classes and 1 youth group are located. We broke ground on the Community Building in February 2017 and moved all of activities into the building on June 18th, 2017. The Lord truly blessed us with Ministry Partners who came alongside us to provide the funds for this wonderful building. This building is used 7 days per week for God’s Glory. Two years after the ministry building was completed we were able to purchase a lot across the street and build a large Rancho. The is a covered space with chain link fencing all around. This has proven to be a great space for the overflow of the Feeding Program, Back Yard Bibles clubs and a place for the children to hang out. As of December 2021 Addys, Fatima and Everthys hosts 4 Back Yard Bible Clubs which includes 360 children each week. The Feeding Program serves 300+ meals 5 days a week for the children. Addys and Felix have a Youth Group with 37 teens that meet weekly on Saturday morning. Jesse and Yohana have a Feeding Program that serves 140 meals 2 times each week at the city dump. They have an hour long time of studying the Bible, singing and prayer. They visit Posintepe Barrio all day each Thursday for house to house visits, home Bible studies and a gathering of adults and children in a central area at the end of the day. This includes 40 adults and around 100 children. Jesse and Yohana have a ministry in the San Diego Barrio each Saturday afternoon with 20 adults and 25 children with a time of Bible Study and prayer. Jesse also has 2 weekly Bible Studies in his home. We welcome groups to come to Granada, Nicaragua to work alongside us. We welcome the opportunity to speak with your church or organization and share more information about how you can join us in ministering to the people of Nicaragua.
