On Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and honor the families who carry that sacrifice with them every day.

Their courage, service, and selflessness deserve our gratitude and remembrance.

Today also reminds us how important community and compassion are, taking care of one another, supporting those in need, and showing up for people when it matters most.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day from all of us at Diakon Youth Services!

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, foster moms, kinship caregivers, and all those who care for others with love, patience, and compassion every day.

The support and encouragement you provide can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and communities.

We also recognize that Mother’s Day can bring many emotions, including grief, loss, or longing, and we’re holding space for those feelings today as well.

However this day finds you, we’re wishing you care, comfort, and moments of connection today. Happy Mother’s Day! 💕

As we approach Easter, we’re reminded that light can break through, even in the midst of difficult or uncertain moments.

At Diakon, we’re grateful to see that every day, in the quiet ways our staff, donors, and volunteers show up to help bring a sense of stability and hope when it’s needed most.

That's how light shows up in real life.

Wishing you and your family a joyful Easter.

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day, a reminder that kindness doesn’t have to be big to matter.

At Diakon, we talk about DiaKINDNESS as a way of showing up with kindness, inclusion, neighborliness, and dependability in everyday interactions. We believe those small moments matter because they shape how people feel when they walk through our doors, ask for help, or trust someone to walk alongside them.

Here’s to carrying a little more kindness into the rest of the day!

Dr. King believed in the power of ordinary people doing good work.

Today and every day, let's honor that by continuing to serve our neighbors with care, respect, and compassion.

Diakon is thankful every day to serve children, youth, families, individuals, and seniors through community-based programs that offer care, connection, and support when it’s needed most.

This season, we’re grateful for the people who make Diakon what it is: our staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and everyone who walks alongside us in our work.

These photos capture just a few of the many faces behind the mission, and we’re thankful for each and every one who helps offer hope to those we serve all year long.

Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful season and a joyful Christmas!

We are so thankful to have Tedd, Ashley, and Lindsey on the team!💙

Meet Our Team Monday is all about the people who bring Diakon’s mission to life each day, and sometimes, that mission spans generations! This month, we’re highlighting families who each serve in different ways across Diakon and the shared connection they have through their work.

Today, we are featuring Tedd and his daughters, Ashley (pictured on the left) and Lindsey (pictured on the right), who are all a part of the Diakon Youth Services team at The Diakon Wilderness Center in Boiling Springs, PA.

For Tedd, having his daughters work at Diakon is more than a professional connection; it’s personal. He shared that his time at Diakon feels less like a job and more like living life with purpose. Being able to share that experience with his daughters has made it even more meaningful. Through his work, Tedd has been able to live out his faith by serving others, and his family has seen that commitment in action over the years. He hopes people understand that something bigger is happening at Diakon—work that draws in not just individuals, but entire generations who want to be part of something that matters.

Ashley and Lindsey both say working alongside their dad has been a special experience. They love being able to help with projects, enjoy his company at work, and take pride in contributing wherever they’re needed. Seeing their dad’s strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to lend a hand inspired them to follow in his footsteps. They each shared how important it is to work hard, keep a smile on their faces, and find joy in helping others. For them, Diakon is especially meaningful because of its impact on young people and future generations, and the chance to be part of that impact every day.

Want to be part of a workplace where purpose and meaningful work come together? Diakon is a great place to grow your career and make a difference!

As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reflecting on what truly matters: the people we serve, the partners who stand with us, and the mission that guides our work.

Our logo may have changed this year, but our heart hasn’t. We remain grateful for each person who makes Diakon’s work possible.

Wishing you a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving!

Thank you to The LINK Foundation for your generous support!

We were grateful to welcome our partners from LINKBANK Banking to the Diakon Wilderness Center last week for a check presentation in support of our Weekend Alternative Program initiatives.

Pictured left to right are Jeff Hojnacki of LINKBANK, Jason Brode, Executive Director of Diakon Youth Services, and Jerec Morlote of LINKBANK.

Funding from partners like The LINK Foundation helps us continue providing meaningful, skill-building experiences for youth who benefit from structure, guidance, and a fresh start in our youth service programs. We deeply appreciate LINK's commitment to investing in programs that strengthen young people and our community.
