Connetquot Varsity Softball takes on the Mental Health 5k!
On Sunday May 3 the Connetquot Varsity Softball team along with the Connetquot Teachers Association took part in the 4th annual student-led "Using Our Voices" Mental Health Run Series, which is an event grounded in the belief that students should be part of the change process, with genuine inclusivity achieved through active student engagement. It has now grown to include four districts: Patchogue-Medford, North Babylon, Connetquot, and New Hyde Park. The funds support students across Long Island by providing counseling opportunities and giving them the platform to display leadership, collaborate with peers from other districts, and contribute to an important cause. The event is designed and executed entirely by students, who are involved in every aspect, from planning to race day. The goal is to share crucial messages about reducing stress and anxiety, building relationships, and supporting mental and physical health through movement. This initiative also empowers students to work toward the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness by fostering civic engagement and community-mindedness.
By supporting this series, you help students across the island unite for a cause that matters—promoting mental health and wellness. All proceeds benefit mental health organizations that work directly with our youth, amplifying the positive impact of this event. When kids are empowered, magical things happen!

Connetquot teachers joined over 15,000 New York state workers who packed MVP Arena in Albany on Sunday, March 8, demanding that lawmakers overhaul the state’s Tier 6 pension system. The massive statewide rally brought together teachers, firefighters, nurses, and public employees from across New York, all united behind one message: Fix Tier 6. Tier 6, which covers employees who began working after April 1, 2012, requires longer careers, higher retirement contributions, and delivers reduced benefits compared to workers in earlier tiers. Rally-goers made clear they want the option to retire at 55 — the same standard enjoyed by workers in previous tiers. Even Governor Kathy Hochul joined union leaders at the rally, expressing support for a more equitable plan. Connetquot educators stood shoulder to shoulder with colleagues statewide to send Albany a clear message: public servants deserve a retirement they can count on.

We are excited to share that in celebration of Dr. Seuss Day, the Connetquot Nations English Honor Society had the wonderful opportunity to visit and be hosted by Duffield Elementary School to promote literacy and celebrate reading with the students.
Our members spent time reading, engaging in literacy activities, and celebrating the joy of books with the children. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. The students were enthusiastic and engaged, and our honor society members truly enjoyed connecting with them.

The students at CAPS invited their parents to attend a holiday event. They put on a performance and sang songs about Hannukah, Christmas and Gingerbread men. They then built gingerbread houses with their parents and teachers, and they made reindeer food and played with a hot chocolate sensory bin. Teachers created photo ops by constructing a large gingerbread house for the students to take pictures at. Finally, Santa visited and gave each student a present, which was a book.
