Tesfa Tena is the nonprofit organization with the goal of building the Ya Ya Medical Clinic in Woreta, Ethiopia. The goal of the clinic is to provide healthcare to the residents of Woreta and neighboring villages who otherwise would have to go without. Ya Ya was hit by a stray bullet as he stood in the yard of the family home. With no medical facility available, Ya Ya's family was forced to care f
or him in his parents' bed. The nearest hospital was 45 minutes away but the road was impassable due to a bridge being destroyed during a previous battle. Janet Asege is Ya Ya's sister. Janet, along with her husband, Matt, founded Tesfa Tena with the aim that other families will not have to tell a similar story. In Amharic, tesfa means "hope" and tena means "health". Tesfa Tena and the Ya Ya Medical Clinic plan to bring hope and health to Woreta, Ethiopia.
