Another update from Outsiders.
We have received over $260 from Outsiders in financial support to go towards gas and food for the pigs. This week all of our pigs will be moved to Outsiders. This is happening because the land owner where they are being boarded can no longer tolerate them on their land. We were given an soft deadline by the end of summer, but relationships became strained and it is now June 30 or they are at risk to be euthanized by the landowner. I will not allow a single piggie to stay there and be at risk. Thank you for those who have adopted, volunteered, donated, and checked in. This process is draining physically and emotionally, but I’m able to make it happen thanks to your support.

Evening Update:
We feel so distant from you all right now. The days have been packed in every single minute. Every time I tried to sit down to go live or make a video, my phone needed to be on the charger. I thought maybe if I could make a video or go live like some other sanctuaries, it may help you all connect with us but an update from my laptop will have to do. The image and audio quality on that via laptop we**am is way worse than my phone.
We got Miss Kitty to the Vet. She is indeed Miss Kitty that went missing in August. We are so grateful she is alive. I wish the animals could speak to us though. When we lost her in August, she had slipped out the door. Its something we are all always super careful about, especially with the cats, but with 14 dogs, 400+ other animals, and 5 humans, things happen sometimes. So Miss Kitty got out when no one saw her escape, giving her a lead time of an unknown amount of time the day she went missing. We never, ever saw her again. She had vanished. We checked the shelter, reported her missing to animal control, we assumed she had gotten out and sadly been killed by a coyote or stray dog. Today when a gentleman stopped by asking us to take in a sick kitten that showed up at his house up the road, we had no idea it could be Miss Kitty. We drove over there after the Panepinto sling was delivered and low and behold, I about passed out, it was a very bald, very scrawny Miss Kitty! He insisted it wasn't. As soon as we got into the truck I pulled up her photos. It was definitely her, except Miss Kitty had not been spayed yet when she had come to us, this cat we just picked up had a spay tattoo on her belly....she was gone almost 10 months, is in horrible shape, but someone in the past 10 months got her spayed??? I started doubting it was Miss Kitty.
I got a hold of our favorite vet tech and asked for her to see if we could be squeezed in. This cat was pale and poorly, could they fit us in as soon as possible. We got a 3pm time slot. Miss Kitty had a significant heart murmur when we took her, so we figured once we get to her appointment we can figure out if this found cat has a heart murmur or not. 3pm rolled around and we had our appointment. We had new bloodwork ran, the Dr. took a listen and did confirm that this was Miss Kitty as she had the same heart murmur. They ran some skin tests and a f***l. She has roundworms, lungworms, a significant heart murmur still...we came home with a medicated shampoo, doxycycline, and she got three injections there. We go back on July 5th. Our visit cost $490...there were no rescue discounts given but hopefully they will adjust it.
This morning I sent Ashley at Star-Crossed Sanctuary the $63 we had in Venmo and was able to pay $350 today for Miss Kitty's bill. We are back to just $0.53 in our bank account. We have received very little support in helping Star-Crossed Sanctuary closed down which is a huge shame. We can only help so much and right now there isn't enough gas money available to get the Star-Crossed pigs moved. Ashley is trying to do the best she can with zero income and we are trying to do the best we can to help her with little to no donations. There is something that just really, really bothers Dan and I that these pigs at Star-Crossed were already rescued one time...now they have to be moved and saved before the 30th or they'll be euthanized. Fortunately all but one of the twenty five pigs are spayed and neutered, out of the five we took already, Howie, Polly, Megan, Matthew, and Nathan, the latter three still needed to be fixed and we got them done already. Tomorrow Ashley is going to pick up another 36 cases of produce for us, from Melissa's wonderful organization we highlighted this morning, so that will help feed all the new residents as well as current ones. But it's 2-2.5 hours one way. Fortunately Ashley can use the trip there to double as a piggy transport for 2 pigs to go to their forever homes. After she drops off the produce to us tomorrow evening, she will pick up the van and crates from us and we will move the Star-Crossed pigs to Outsiders on Wednesday and Thursday. They will be surrendered as official Outsiders pigs when they arrive but since all are spayed and neutered but one, Ashley will help us with promoting adoptions and we will get them all listed on Petfinder.
We know we have asked A LOT this month, but we have had requests for help at an all time high. If you can spare even $5 to help cover gas, it will literally help save a rescue pigs life.
