Washington Parish STEM will be closed through June 22, 2026, as our staff will be attending and supporting the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Unity Camp and Juneteenth activities.

Due to this schedule, our Astro Camp originally scheduled for June 18–20 has been rescheduled to June 25–27, 2026.

Families who have already registered for Astro Camp will be notified of the schedule change. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to provide quality STEM learning opportunities for our community.

🎮🧪 What an AMAZING day at our Esports Workshop and Mad Science Camp! 🧪🎮

A huge THANK YOU to Jeffrey Harrison with Louisiana Scholastic Esports Federation - LASEF for spending time with our students and providing valuable insight on growing and advancing our esports program. We are excited to announce that Washington Parish STEM & Innovative Learning Center is now an official Regional LASEF Location! 🎉

This means we will be hosting elementary, middle school, and high school esports tournaments this fall and beyond. Stay tuned and follow our page for upcoming announcements, tournament dates, and opportunities to get involved!

We would also like to thank Astin Richmond and our incredible staff for leading an outstanding Mad Science Camp! Our young scientists had a blast as they:

🔬 Learned about the Scientific Method
🧫 Explored bacteria by testing hand samples in petri dishes
⚗️ Investigated exciting chemical reactions
🌋 Learned about volcanoes and created their own “Volcano in a Bottle”
🦷 Created Elephant Toothpaste and compared the effects of different strengths of hydrogen peroxide
🥼 Explored our brand-new science lab and conducted hands-on experiments

The excitement, curiosity, and smiles throughout the day reminded us why STEM education is so important. Thank you to all of our students, families, volunteers, and supporters who helped make these experiences possible!

🤖🚀 What an AMAZING week of STEM learning! 🚀🤖

Our students had an incredible time during our robotics workshops on Today and Wednesday!

Using LEGO robotics, Sphero robots, and Wonder Bots, students learned the fundamentals of block coding while exploring real-world engineering and design concepts. They didn’t just program robots—they became engineers, designers, and problem-solvers!

🏗️ Students designed and built their own obstacle courses
🏘️ Created miniature towns and navigation challenges for their robots
🤖 Programmed robots to complete missions and overcome obstacles
⚙️ Learned about engineering design, testing, troubleshooting, and improving their creations
💡 Developed critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, and computational thinking skills

One of the highlights was our Glow-in-the-Dark Robotics Challenge, where students put their coding and engineering skills to the test in a fun illuminated environment!

At Washington Parish STEM, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. Our students were actively designing, building, coding, testing, and improving their projects just like real engineers and technology professionals.
