📚✏️ HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ✏️📚

The City of Bogalusa is preparing for our Back-to-School Block Party on July 18, and we need our community’s support!

We are inviting local businesses, churches, nonprofits, civic groups, and organizations to join us as we help students start the school year prepared and confident.

Set up a table, share information about your organization, distribute school supplies, provide resources, or simply come out and show our children that their community supports them.

It takes all of us working together to invest in the next generation. Every backpack, notebook, pencil, and encouraging word can make a lasting impact on a child.

If your organization would like to participate, please use this link, and a team member will contact you.

Together, let’s make this school year the best one yet for the children of Bogalusa! ❤️💙📓🎒

📢 Attention Event Organizers

As part of the City of Bogalusa’s updated procedures for special events, all individuals, organizations, and businesses planning a special event on City property are required to submit a Special Event Permit Application at least two (2) weeks prior to the event date.

Submitting applications in advance allows sufficient time for the City to properly review all event details, coordinate necessary services, and ensure all requirements are met for a safe and successful event.

Please note that all Special Event Permit Applications must be reviewed and approved by the Chief of Police before final authorization can be granted.

⚠️ Applications submitted less than two (2) weeks before an event may be declined due to insufficient time for review and approval.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to working with you to make your event a success. For questions or to obtain a permit packet, please contact City Hall.

Thank you for helping us keep our community events organized, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

As of today 5/27/26, the splash is working!
**********************************************

The splash pad at Cassidy Park is currently closed due to broken pipes. It is anticipated to reopen on May 29th, depending on favorable weather conditions that allow plumbers to complete the necessary repairs.

🚧 The City is aware of flooding concerns in several areas following the weather conditions. Public Works, Fire Department personnel, and responding staff are actively assessing affected areas and placing barricades where necessary to help ensure public safety.

⚠️ Please use caution when traveling and do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

📞 If you observe additional hazardous areas or have concerns that need to be reported, please contact the City at (985)732-6211 so crews can continue monitoring and responding as quickly as possible.

🙏 We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews continue working throughout the affected areas.

Today was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this cleanup effort possible:

ABCWaste.com Waste for generously donating a dumpster,
Bogalusa Lumber for providing trash claws,
Coastal Waste for supplying trash bags and gloves,
The Bogalusa Fire Department for always stepping up, donating their time, and sending a team out to work alongside us,
Bogalusa City Court, Judge Duke and his office for coming out and supporting the effort,
City Prosecutor Trent Temples,
Bogalusa City Council Member Shelby Temple (District C),
Washington Parish Council District 3, Kim Wagner, Damion Moss Sr. For Donation of water and juice!

Great job to Gloria Kates and her team in District A, and congratulations on their 12th annual clean up day! Keep up the great work!

GREAT job to every team! Everyone made a difference today !

And of course, every single citizen who showed up ready to work and make a difference.

Because of your dedication, we were able to divide into three teams and tackle three different districts across our city. Together, we collected 42 - bags of litter, removed tires, cleared large wooden debris, and even cleaned out clogged gutters. That’s real impact.

Serving your community is more than just a good deed—it’s an investment in the place we all call home. When we come together like this, we build pride, connection, and a safer, cleaner environment for everyone. It shows what’s possible when people care enough to act.

We also want to encourage the City of Bogalusa to continue improving efforts to address litter and support initiatives that keep our neighborhoods clean.

Littering may seem small, but its impact is anything but. It harms wildlife, clogs drainage systems, contributes to flooding, and takes away from the beauty and pride of our community. Every piece of trash tossed aside sends a message—but so does every piece picked up.

Let today be a starting point, not a finish line. We encourage everyone to get involved, take pride in your surroundings, and be part of the solution. Together, we can keep Bogalusa clean, strong, and united.

Please join us tomorrow, 9am, Bogalusa City Hall.

Upon arrival, participants will be organized into three teams. Each team will focus on different areas of the city that require attention and care, and we are excited to work together to make a visible impact.

For those who would like to wear a matching shirt during our efforts, we have a limited supply of red shirts available on a first-come, first-served basis, with sizes Medium and Large remaining. We strongly encourage everyone to wear a red shirt to foster a sense of unity and community spirit.

Additionally, we recommend bringing a trash claw to assist with picking up debris, as it will make the task easier and more efficient. We will provide trash bags and gloves for participants to ensure everyone can safely contribute to the clean-up effort.

Each team lead will also have water available for their crew to keep everyone hydrated throughout the activity. We plan to work diligently until 11:30 AM in our designated areas, making every minute count in our efforts to beautify the city.

Please make plans to join us for this important community service event. Together, we can make a difference!
