Our 8th Annual Brilliant Mindz Camp is June 29-July 3 (next week) we’re in need of camp sponsors. Several parents have reached out asking if we have any sponsors. If you know me, I wish all kids can come without paying. We’ve allowed it for years. Unfortunately, this year we’re unable to allow campers to attend without paying. It’s hard running a week long camp without funding. Camp registration is only 30$. We are living in some ruff times.

Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved volunteer, Mr. La’Darrus Brister. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, students, coworkers, church family, Mardi Gras Krewe of Knotz, Line Dancers, and all who were blessed to know him.

In 2019, during Brilliant Mindz’s very first Summer Camp, Mr. Brister served as Co-Director of our Angie site. We were committed to incorporating STEM education into our program, and Mr. Brister made that vision a reality. He was the driving force behind our STEM curriculum and helped lead our month-long summer camp alongside Mr. Jones, inspiring countless young minds through hands-on learning and innovation.

After earning his degree in Engineering, La’Darrus chose to return home to invest in the next generation of his community. He was a dedicated educator who was deeply loved by his students and respected by his colleagues. Beyond the classroom, he was a faithful servant in his church, a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a passionate volunteer.

His impact on the lives of so many will never be forgotten. We are grateful for the time, talent, and love he shared with our organization and community. Especially as a volunteer with our organization.

Rest peacefully, Mr. Brister. You will truly be missed.

We pray everyone is prepared & stay safe. Special thanks to Councilwoman Penny Douglas, Anthony Turner, City of Bogalusa Public Works Department for allowing us to get 75 sandbags to distribute to the elderly and those without transportation. We also distributed 40 cases of water, 60 Emergency Preparedness Checklist & resources elderly RX safety. Huge shoutout to Tony, we are blessed with a great volunteer.

Please be safe and prepare as much as you can. If we get more sandbags and water we will distribute in the morning.

God blessed us with this bus. And I’m glad we can be a blessing to our community. We might don’t have much but what we do have, we will do God’s work. Today we are riding around town delivering sandbags, water and emergency disaster preparedness checklist to elderly and less fortunate. Whatever resource we get I promise we giving it out to our community. Special thx to Tony for helping us today. Anyone else like to volunteer or donate let us know. As long as we have gas and resources we rolling.
