The Kendall County Retired Teachers Association held its final meeting of the year on May 14th at Terrace Homes at Menger Springs. Highlights included remarks from Co-President Richard Herbst and guest speakers Dr. Kristin Craft (Boerne ISD Superintendent), Melissa Ramos (TRTA District 20 President), Jessie Ramos (TRTA Foundation Vice President) and induction of KCRTA officers for 2026-28.
Members are encouraged to Participate in the Primary Runoff Election - Early voting May 18 - 22 / Election Day May 26.

You are also invited to attend the TRTA District 20 Spring Leadership Meeting at San Antonio Garden Center on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. ( No, you do not need to be an officer or even a committee chairperson or even commit to being one!!!) It is a great way to meet other retired educators in the TRTA District 20 area as well as showcasing local vendors in the Boerne, Comfort, San Antonio area. The event is on the grounds of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens with free parking available. Registration begins at 9:30 AM and the meeting at 10:00 AM. If interested in attending, please send your check made out to TRTA/KCRTA for $25.00 to Bohn Smith at 20 Sisterdale Rd., Boerne, TX 78006 by Monday, May 18, 2026.

Hey it RAINED!!!!! and we enjoyed every little drop. We had near 4 1/2 inches of rain and that is good. I do hope you enjoyed the rain.

Just a reminder that we are in the Local Election period and if you have not already voted that you will make time and go out and vote. Boerne is School Board Election, Comfort has the Bond election and FOR has City Council Election.

It is really important that we all vote. In relation to the Boerne School Board election, we have had great support from the Board of the COLA we received in 2023 and they allow KCRTA to be involved and supportive with Boerne ISD. We really appreciate the present school board and our involvement with the State Legislators during the Legislative Sessions. The next Legislative Session will be critical to the TRS fund and actuarial soundness, so we will look for all the support we can.get.

Here are the Early Voting dates, times and locations. It also has the times and locations for Election Day, May 2, 2026:

Early Voting- April 20,22-28- Boerne Courthouse Annex- 221 Fawn Valley Drive and Fair Oaks Ranch Police Dept.- 7286 Dietz Elkhorn Basic Hours are 8am-6pm, Sat. April 25- 10am-4pm and April 27-28- 7am -7pm

Comfort- April 25- 10am-4pm , April 27 and 28- 10am-6pm Comfort ISD Training Center 232 High Street in Comfort

May 2, 2026- Election Day

CONGRATULATIONS KCRTA Members!!!
Collectively, in 2025, our membership volunteered for a total of 20,532 hours. These hours translate into a grand total of $689,669.88 for us to report to TRTA. This total is also reported to our Kendall County state representatives so they are reminded of how much KCRTA retired school employees contribute to the community! And of course, it is a reminder that retired school employees are a strong voting constituency very much interested in the continued “health” of TRS. Again, thank you for all of the volunteer time that you contributed and for taking the time to count and turn in your hours to Kendall County Retired Teachers Association.
