Happy from Stromboli, our four-month-old grey tabby kitten! This gorgeous girl started her life as a street rescue, but she has completely embraced cozy foster living in Dallas. Stromboli is famous in her foster home for her daily zoomies, chasing string toys, and turning on her remarkably loud purr engine.
Stromboli is an outgoing social butterfly who loves kids, dogs, and other cats, making her a phenomenal fit for a busy family. She is fully litterbox trained and has an adorable habit of staring at you with her big eyes during dinner! While she loves cuddles, like many kittens she prefers keeping all four paws on the floor rather than being picked up.

Bernie may weigh 54 pounds, but in her mind, she is the ultimate lap dog! Saved from a local shelter right before being euthanized in 2020, Bernie has spent her time proving just how gentle, loving, and family-ready rescue dogs are.
Bernie is house-trained, crate-trained, fantastic with children, and currently living in a foster home. Her skin allergies are easily managed with regular baths and a daily medication costing around $50 a month. Bernie is dog-friendly with slow intros, but she needs a home without cats or birds. Best of all, her adoption fee is $0 for approved applicants!

Every week that Dobby and Buster spend in commercial boarding facilities drains critical rescue funds from our non-profit. Fostering a dog directly eliminates those monthly boarding fees, allowing us to redirect thousands of dollars back toward emergency medical rescues across Dallas/DFW.
Fostering with Abandoned Pet Project costs you nothing out of pocket, as we provide all food, crates, bowls, and medical care while you supply a safe home environment. Dobby is a trained Doberman mix who loves structure, and Buster is a playful Lab mix who loves fetch. Step up to foster today and help us break the boarding cycle!

As pumpkin spice season sweeps across Dallas/DFW, you might be wondering if pumpkin is safe for your furry friends! Plain, 100% pure canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) is actually a fantastic, fiber-rich treat for both dogs and cats that supports healthy digestion.
A spoonful of plain pumpkin mixed into dinner is a delicious autumn treat! Just be sure to avoid canned pumpkin pie filling, nutmeg, cloves, and artificial sweeteners like xylitol, which are toxic to pets. Enjoy the cozy season while keeping your four-legged companions safe and healthy!

Dobby has spent over two years living in commercial boarding kennels while waiting for his forever family. While boarding keeps him safe, a kennel facility can never compare to a real home with a couch, a routine, and a family to call his own.
Dobby is a 4-year-old Doberman mix who has completed formal training! He is housebroken, walks great on a leash, and forms deep velcro bonds with his human handler. Dobby needs an only-pet home with older kids (12+), where he can dedicate 100% of his heart to you. During October, his adoption fee is completely waived ($0)!

Sunday rule: cozy blankets and afternoon dog naps are non-negotiable. Bernie, Dobby, and Buster are all taking their weekend relaxation extremely seriously, proving that rescue dogs truly know how to recharge!
Watching our animals relax and show off their goofy sides is the absolute best part of our week. Providing daily care, food, and boarding for our long-stay heroes takes continuous community support. If you have a few dollars to spare this Sunday, your gift directly funds their day-to-day care and medical needs.

Happy $0 Fee-Waived Friday! Today we are shining our spotlight on Buster, our 38-pound Lab mix who holds the title of Fetch Champion! For qualified applicants in the Dallas/DFW area, Buster’s standard adoption fee is completely waived ($0) all month long.
Buster came to Abandoned Pet Project as a tiny 3-month-old puppy, and while his littermates were adopted years ago, Buster has spent his entire life in rescue. Now three years old, he is a sweet, athletic boy who loves running in the yard and retrieving tennis balls. Buster is a sensitive soul who needs a quiet, adult-only home where he can take his time to decompress and feel safe.
