Boerne White Sox Vintage Base Ball

Boerne White Sox Vintage Base Ball Our club is currently inactive. Base Ball played with 1860 rules and traditional uniforms. Currently inactive.

We played the sport using 1860 rules and wore traditional uniforms of The Boerne White Sox at the turn of the century. We played other teams in Texas at different times of the year. You didn't see us using gloves and our bats were a little bigger. The ball used was hand-made and softer than a baseball.

The Lightfoot Club wants to recognize the fantastic photographs designed and produced by Christopher "Cap" West. In the style of the 1850s, Cap created Carter de Visite (CdV) and Cabinet cards; thin paper photograph mounted on a thicker paper card. Absolutely tremendous and we thank you!

You will be witness to cheers of HUZZAH!! for outstanding catches, gasps as a daisy cutter whistles through the infield or a slap of the skin as a third base tender paws a line ball from the willow of a Muckle. You’ll hear the arbiter bellow out, “STRIKER TO THE LINE!” And see the great game of Base Ball as it was played by Civil War soldiers between battles.
