Often you hear the phrase, “you hit it out of the park”…but this year, our BEF Board didn’t just hit it out of the park, they hit it out of Central Park.
With an all-hands-on-deck effort, our board transformed every table, every screen, every sign, and every corner of the venue from the high rises and scaffolding into a vibrant New York experience. Guests could stroll from Tavern on the Green to Chinatown, wander through Little Italy, or stop by Wall Street all in one evening. Every detail was intentional and full of energy.
The food tour alone was unforgettable. From passed bites like Nathan’s hot dogs, crispy flatbread pizza, and chicken fried rice and an eggroll served in classic takeout boxes, to a comforting Italian spread that felt straight out of a nonna’s kitchen, guests enjoyed rigatoni, green beans, and yes…homemade meatballs. And of course, no trip to the Big Apple is complete without a rich, indulgent New York cheesecake to end the night.
As dueling pianos filled the room, you couldn’t help but think of “New York, New York”—and the line, “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.” That sentiment perfectly reflects the work happening every day in Boerne ISD. Our teachers are preparing students not just for success here, but for wherever life takes them…college, career, military, or trade. As we celebrated our 14 amazing teachers of the year we were reminded just how lucky we are to have over 700 great teachers across our campuses. A win for one teacher is truly a win for all, as we celebrated the naming of our District Teacher of the Year - Wendy Zamzow, Champion High School.
What made the night even more meaningful was the heart behind it all. More than 75 student volunteers gave their Saturday evening to serve, support, and celebrate alongside us. Their presence was a powerful reminder that we’re not just building great events, we’re helping shape exceptional people.
Yes, it was a fundraising event, and the room was filled with energy from Heads or Tails to the silent and live auctions. But more than that, it was filled with generosity, pride, and a deep love for Boerne ISD. Thank you to our sponsors and donors we are so grateful for your support!
This wasn’t just an event, it was an experience. And it’s one we won’t soon forget.
