Crew 624-C (12-4) was up and ready in the dark hours of the morning to pack up and head west! We can’t wait to be HoME at Philmont Scout Ranch. Twelve days of backpacking, burros and Baldy. Send your good vibes their way and get ready for some amazing stories when they're back! Go Troop 102!

Do a Good Turn Daily, the slogan of Scouting America, reminds our scouts the value of everyday helpfulness and community service, reinforcing that helping others should be a natural, daily habit rather than a rare event. Troop 102 did a good turn in this years Scouting for Food drive by collecting 182 pounds of food to support children and families in Kendall County.

It may be rainin’ but our scouts sure aren’t complainin’! A night of light rain wasn’t even a challenge for our Bear Creek Scout Reservation contingent. They are loving it and ready to take on the day!

It’s all smiles as Troop 102’s Bear Creek Scout Reservation contingent head out for a week filled with adventure, teamwork, leadership, and plenty of fun in the Texas Hill Country. From swimming, to shooting sports and merit badges, our scout know Bear Creek will be an exciting and meaningful experience.

We are looking forward to all the tales they will bring home. Go get ‘em Troop 102

Twenty miles. Five historic missions. One unforgettable adventure.

This weekend, our Troop 102 took on an incredible journey through San Antonio, hiking mile after mile while stepping back in time at each of the city’s historic missions. From the quiet beauty of the early morning start to the final stretch fueled by determination and teamwork, every step told a story.

Along the way, we explored centuries-old architecture, learned about the rich history that shaped our community, and strengthened our bonds as a troop. There were tired legs, plenty of laughs, and moments of reflection that reminded us why we do what we do.

This trek was also part of our preparation for summer trip to Philmont, pushing our endurance and teamwork to the next level as we get ready for even bigger adventures ahead.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. Here’s to pushing limits, discovering history, and making memories that will last a lifetime. ⚜️

Some Troop 102 history on Main Street.

Before Tusculum Brewing Company, the building on Main Street was home to H.O. Adler’s general store - the biggest store in town, where you could buy just about anything from soup to dynamite.

Adler also served as Scoutmaster of Boerne’s Troop 102, guiding generations of young men and even leading wartime scrap drives during WWII, when Boy Scouts gathered everything from bacon grease to railroad spikes to support the war effort.

In this month’s Musings of JEV, John Eddie Vogt reflects on the legacy of H.O. Adler, Troop 102, and a time when the Boy Scouts helped power the home front.
