Sunday's community lunch: Turkey Sausage Shepherds pie.

Our guest chefs were back at in, whom we affectionately refer to as the Jersey Boys. They were given 48 hours notice as to what protein and other ingredients we had on hand for them to build the meal. Every week is like an episode of Chopped.
Thanks to Palm Beach County Food Bank we received 70 lbs of Turkey Sausage and 12 cases of mashed potato pouches. The Jersey Boys decided to do a different take on Shepherds pie.

70 lbs of Turkey Sausage
75 lbs of mashed potatoes
30 lbs frozen peas & carrots
2 gallons of beef broth
Flour
Tons of spices

There were some doubters, but they were wrong the meal came out fantastic. They plated over 160 meals. The flavors really came together and the guests told us it was another delicious meal.

Thanks you to our guest chefs; Magdy Tadros, Joseph Divico Art Morgan & Oscar Maurosa They really put in the work on both Saturday & Sunday to prepare these meals for those in need.

We are hot & humid in South Florida 🌞☀️.
We are so grateful for Once Upon a Farm Jennifer Garner and our partnership with Palm Beach County Food Bank 🙏. Our guests in need & experiencing food insecurity LOVE the Organic, Nutrious, Cold smoothies, Organic fruit pouches and Organic oat bars. And our volunteers LOVE handing the out. We have been beyond blessed receiving multiple cases over the past couple of months. Such a treat to be able to offer this. They are loved by kids and adults alike.

Today's community lunch: Beefaroni (ground beef, onions, peppers, elbow macaroni & roasted garlic pasta sauce)

Huge thank you to Palm Beach County Food Bank for the donation of the ground beef, the elbow macaroni & roasted garlic pasta sauce. We were able to prepare 157 meals for less than $50 including all other supplies and the to go containers they were served in. How great is that?

Ingredients:
65 lbs of ground beef
32 lbs of elbow macaroni
8 gallons of roasted garlic pasta sauce
24 onions (diced)
16 green peppers (diced)
9 sticks of butter
9 cups of flour

Arrange ground beef on bakers trays and bake for 30 minutes at 350 until browned.

Prepare pasta and set aside.

Take 3 (20-quart) pots, melt 3 sticks of butter in each. Brown the onions & peppers. Turn off the heat, add in the flour. Stir in the pasta sauce and mix together well. Bring to a simmer for 10 minutes.

Mix together the sauce mix with all the ground beef and pasta. Put into 12 aluminum full sized deep catering pans. Refrigerate overnight.

Bake covered at 350 for 1 hour.

Made 157 meals today, hearty portions.
