Gasparilla Island Kids Classic Tarpon Tournament Where kids catch & release one of the toughest gamefish while helping other We invite you to participate in this truly unique event.

Boca Grande Charities takes great pride in creating a fun and engaging experience for kids. It really is the “World’s Greatest Kids Fishing Tournament.” This is the greatest because everyone involved, from the anglers, to the volunteers, to the sponsors and the captains, has made a commitment to protect the resource with a catch and immediate release event. Conservation of the tarpon fishery is a

primary goal of the event as well as honoring the local, historical traditions that the Boca Grande area tarpon fishing community has built over the years. The kids that participate are educated on how to properly catch a tarpon and they are all caught and released as quickly and as healthy as possible. The Gasparilla Island Kids Classic Tarpon Tournament is also great because the event focuses on support for children’s’ medical needs and educational needs. We connect the community towards these goals. The motto for the tournament and what the kids leave with is, “Kids helping Kids!”
In 4 short years the Gasparilla Island Kids Classic and our kids who have participated, have raised over $120,000 for the charities we support! Your contributions and support enable us to donate 100% of the tournament entry fees to our charities.

📣 Join the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum Team for the 2025 Gasparilla Island Kids Classic Tarpon Tournament (See comments for event details)

We’re sponsoring a team of four young anglers (8-15 years of age) for the 2025 Gasparilla Island Kids Classic, and we want to hear from YOU!

🎣 How to Enter:
Submit a short story (100–300 words) telling us your AGE, AND:
• Why you love traditional tarpon fishing
• Your favorite memory at Whidden's Marina
• A special moment fishing in Boca Grande Pass or on the Island.
(Extra credit if you include anything about our local maritime history!)

🏆 We Will Select 4 Anglers to join our team!
Each winner will receive:

👨‍👩‍👧 Note: Parents/guardians will need to sign wavers with Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce and arrange transportation of their child to and from the boat, awards ceremony, etc.
