Join BIPS for a fun, hands-on workshop at the Gasparilla Island Lighthouse! You’ll learn all about the charming Eastern Screech Owl, a true Florida native, and build your very own nesting box to take home to your yard.

Join us for the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup at the Gasparilla Island Lighthouse on Saturday, September 19, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM!

Our coast is one of Florida’s greatest treasures, and keeping it beautiful takes all of us. This is your opportunity to roll up your sleeves, get outside, meet fellow coastal stewards, and make a real difference along Gasparilla Island.

Bring your family, friends, neighbors and fellow beach lovers and help us remove litter and protect the incredible coastal environment surrounding the Gasparilla Island Lighthouse.

Every piece of trash we remove is one less piece that can harm our beaches, wildlife and waterways.

Registration is now open!

Climb into history with the Barrier Island Parks Society! The first History Climb of the season at Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum kicks off on Friday, October 23!

Get ready for spectacular views and a step back in time. Here is what you need to know before you head up:
- Location: 880 Belcher Road, Boca Grande, FL
- Climb Hours: Fridays, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Tickets: $10 Adults | $5 Children under 12 (Purchase in-person at the Lighthouse Gift Shop; no advance RSVP)
- Climb Requirements: Must be at least 48" tall to climb

Every climb fee directly helps support and maintain our historic lighthouse and museum!

✨ A Look Back at a Special Day! 🇺🇸

We’re still smiling thinking about the Guardians Across America event on August 8 at the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum! ❤️

Our youngest visitors had a wonderful time taking part in a special lighthouse-themed craft activity, and the best part? They got to take home their very own lighthouse flag!

It was wonderful seeing their creativity, excitement, and smiles as they celebrated our nation’s history and our beautiful lighthouse. 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a memorable day for our young lighthouse guardians!

Shell-tastic Day at the Lighthouse! 🐚

What a wonderful weekend at the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum!

We were thrilled to welcome 25 Girl Scouts, and their families, for a very special Girl Scouts Shelling Badge experience! 🔎

The girls had the opportunity to learn about shells, discover more about our amazing coastal environment, and get creative by making their very own adorable shell shadow boxes to take home. What a wonderful way to combine learning, creativity, and a little Florida fun! 🌴

A very special THANK YOU goes out to Linda, Cathy, and Karen from the Englewood Shell Club for sharing their knowledge and helping make this event so special. Their time, enthusiasm, and expertise helped make this a memorable experience for all of the girls!

And, of course, thank you to all of the Girl Scouts and their families for spending part of your weekend with us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

We love seeing the next generation discover, appreciate, and protect the incredible natural treasures that surround us here on the Gulf Coast.
