We are a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill dog shelter and we obtain most of our dogs the day they are to be euthanized. We save their life and provide them with a temporary home until we find a forever home for them. We are currently at our maximum capacity and are unable to help more dogs until we find homes for the ones we have now. At Second Chance, we believe every dog has a story and every stor

y deserves a happy ending! If you have adopted a dog from Second Chance, please feel free to upload pictures. We become very attached to the dogs while they are here and love hearing updates! Please contact us today if you would like to change the quality of a dogs life by making a donation or adopting. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and tax deductible!! Please suggest us to your friends,
and please, please, PLEASE have your pets spayed or neutered!!

Hello Y'all. My name is Shirley. I will hanging out all this week at our Second Chance Shelter Hidden Gems Thrift Store # 2 in Albertville, Alabama from 9 am to 5 pm. You can see me in the video below taking a tour of the store along with big Chance. I am 5 years old. I am blind in one eye but that doesn't slow me down one bit. I love people and my friends say I am a love bug. I walk good on a leash. I am up for adoption. Please come visit me at the store. You will be glad you did. I was rescued by Marshall County Animal Control of Alabama back on October 15, 2020. I came to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama the same day along with my sister Laverne. I have been at the shelter since I was 1 year old. My human friends brought me to the Store to hang out and hopefully someone will see me and take me home with them. Wouldn't that be great. Please share this post so more people can see that I am available for adoption. See you there. 7 year old Parish is looking for his forever family and home. Come visit these sweet dogs.

The SCS Thrift Store is located at 6485 US Highway 431 South in Albertville, Alabama. We are across the street from Autozone. Also, look for our sign on the red brick building with a blue roof (the side of the building is white with a blue roof). Our friendly staff will help you with any questions about Meeko and Chicha or any of the merchandise in the store. Our TV in the pet section has a slide show that shows other puppies and dogs that are up for adoption. All proceeds from the store or any adoption goes to help Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama take care of all of the dogs that are at the shelter. Look forward to seeing all of you there this week. All the dogs are up for adoption. They are up to date on all shots, fixed and microchipped. The adoption fee is only $ 60.00 for this bundle of joy 🙂 Come visit us and shop some while you are here. You can call the shelter at 256-561-2411 if you have any questions about Shirley and/or Parish or you can call the SCS Thrift Store at 256-660-0423 if you need any other information. See you there!!!!

Wanda had foot surgery six weeks ago and today she was able to remove that awkward orthopedic boot. On the way back from the doctor, we decided to have a picnic lunch near Guntersville Lake. We stopped at Publix to get deli-sandwiches and thought about Jeffrey and Haley, two Publix employees who came to the shelter in April and volunteered. While shopping, we ran into Craig, a friend of the shelter. He mentioned the Woofstock dog food drive we are having and said he was going to take some dog food to WQSB radio. As I was checking out, Craig came to the register and insisted on buying our supplies for the picnic. I tried to reject the offer but he said he just wanted to show how much he appreciated what the shelter is doing, I humbly accepted. Our lunch was wonderful, the city park was well shaded and peaceful. The cool breeze coming off the lake was so refreshing. These are the moments in our life that mean the most. It doesn't take long to feel relaxed and recharged. By mid-afternoon we were back at work. I am at the shelter, Wanda is at the thrift store. We will work into the early evening, go home close out the day and go to bed, feeling grateful for those mid-day moments when we paused and smelled the roses. - Have a great evening - Doug

Ya’ll are amazing! I see our followers are liking, following and sharing our posts. But we are trying to gain momentum to get the word out since we need to help us. I know we can do it. Many people don’t realize how much they could impact the shelter’s dogs’ lives and it doesn’t cost any money. At the same time, we could help Mother Earth! Please, if you haven’t yet, click on the Green Steps for Homeless Pets’s logo to get straight to the page.
