We are a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill dog shelter and we obtain most of our dogs the day they are to be euthanized. We save their life and provide them with a temporary home until we find a forever home for them. We are currently at our maximum capacity and are unable to help more dogs until we find homes for the ones we have now. At Second Chance, we believe every dog has a story and every stor

Hello Y'all. My name is Shirley. I will hanging out all this week at our Second Chance Shelter Hidden Gems Thrift Store # 2 in Albertville, Alabama from 9 am to 5 pm. You can see me in the video below with Becky who loves me. I am 5 years old. I am blind in one eye but that doesn't slow me down one bit. I love people and my friends say I am a love bug. I walk good on a leash. I am up for adoption. Please come visit me at the store. You will be glad you did. I was rescued by Marshall County Animal Control of Alabama back on October 15, 2020. I came to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama the same day along with my sister Laverne. I have been at the shelter since I was 1 year old. My human friends brought me to the Store to hang out and hopefully someone will see me and take me home with them. Wouldn't that be great. Please share this post so more people can see that I am available for adoption. See you there. My sister Laverne is available for adoption too. Her pictures are below in the comment section.

The SCS Thrift Store is located at 6485 US Highway 431 South in Albertville, Alabama. We are across the street from Autozone. Also, look for our sign on the red brick building with a blue roof (the side of the building is white with a blue roof). Our friendly staff will help you with any questions about Shirley or Laverne or any of the merchandise in the store. Our TV in the pet section has a slide show that shows other puppies and dogs that are up for adoption. All proceeds from the store or any adoption goes to help Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama take care of all of the dogs that are at the shelter. Look forward to seeing all of you there this week. All the dogs are up for adoption. They are up to date on all shots, fixed and microchipped. UPDATE! The wooden table and chairs in the video below was sold late this afternoon. We get new items in each day and some of them are bought right away the same day. So, don't hesitate before the item you want is gone. It's hot outside but never too early to find Christmas bargains at our store. Come check out the Christmas room in our store. You will be glad you did.

I came to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama on August 11, 2026. I am so happy that nothing bad happened to me and my brother while we were strays and trying to survive all by ourselves. I am looking for my forever family and home. I am one happy puppy and I have so much love to give. Please come visit me or call the shelter at 256-561-2411 if you are interested in me or need more information. Paws crossed that all of my hopes and dreams do come true. I weigh about 36 pounds. Dreams do come true! Ida was rescued along with her siblings Imogene and Irving by Albertville Animal Control in Albertville, Alabama. Ida and her siblings came to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama on July 31, 2026. We are all so happy that nothing bad happened to this sweet girl and her siblings while they were on their own trying to survive before they were rescued. Ida's siblings Imogene and Irving are still available for adoption.

Our sweet and so lovable 6 year old Porkchop was adopted at our Second Chance Hidden Gems Thrift Store on August 31, 2026. Yay! Happy Dance! Go enjoy your second chance in life Porkchop. You so deserve it. See baby. Dreams do come true! Porkchop had spent around 4 years at the shelter. No dog should have to live in a shelter that long. We decided to take Porkchop to one of our thrift stores to stay at the thrift store so more people could meet her. It worked! :) Porkchop came to Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama on July 18, 2022 as a 2 year old dog after being rescued as a stray on busy Highway 75 South in Albertville, Alabama. She was found across the street from McCrory Animal Clinic in Albertville, Alabama. We were all so happy that nothing bad happened to this sweet girl while she was a stray trying to survive on her own.
