It’s November again and that means you’re going to see Boardman Police Officers growing their beards for a cause!

This year, officers who want to participate and grow their beard are making a donation to the FOP and that money is being use to support our Shop with a Cop program.

Boardman Police Officers and Lodge members participate in 3 different Shop with a Cop programs at numerous stores within Boardman where they shop with a Boardman Student to ensure they have a good holiday season. Deserving students are selected from the elementary schools, intermediate school, and middle school.

This year we are again asking for donations to help support this but there’s an added advantage, the top 5 officer/members who recieve the most donations, get to keep growing their beard for the month of December as well!

If you wish to donate, please do so by using our Venmo: Boardman-FOP and be sure to put the officers name you wish to support.

Today we pay our respects to Brother John Allsopp. It’s been extremely difficult to find the words to express the impact of the loss of Brother Allsopp. Brother Allsopp was a Husband, Father, Brother, Son, Police Officer, Mentor, Supervisor, community member, and was well respected and loved in every one of those roles.

Brother Allsopp, your love and dedication for everything you did will surely be missed. Rest easy.

Please keep Brother Allsopp’s family, friends, co-workers and anyone who was impacted by him in your prayers.

Mark your Calendars!

On Saturday June 21st, 2025 from 12:00-4:00pm Aunt Mimi’s Lemonade Stand will be holding a fundraising event at Penguin City Brewing Company to raise money to provide area police K-9’s with body armor vests.

Every year, for the past 3 years children Annalise and Jordan have held fundraisers in memory of their Aunt Mimi, who was an animal lover. This year, Annalise and Jordan wanted to raise money to supply area Police K-9’s with body armor. This years event is graciously being held at Penguin City Brewing Company at 460 E. Federal St., Youngstown, Ohio. There will be Police K-9 teams there demonstrating their skills along with SWAT vehicles and food trucks.

The goal is to equip 17 area Police K-9’s with body armor that cost $500-$700 each with Boardman Police Departments new K-9 Officers Jack and Mako being 2 of the 17
K-9’s hoping to be equipped with body armor. If you can’t make the event, please consider donating to this cause.

The Boardman Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #43 will be accepting donations to assist in Officer Wetzel’s recovery. Should you like to donate we are asking that a gift card for gasoline, local food establishments, or hotel chains in Pittsburgh be dropped off during normal business hours at the Boardman Police Department Records Department. These gift card donations will go to the Wetzel family to help defray the costs associated with hospital stays, and assist with meals once Officer Wetzel returns home to continue his recovery. Though Officer Wetzel protects the citizens of Saint Clair, he has strong ties to Boardman.

Should you wish to provide a monetary donation to Officer Wetzel or Rosalie Martin, we are asking that you use the below link before February 9th.

Any and all donations will go entirely to the Wetzel family or the Martin family. We appreciate your support for local law enforcement during this trying time.
