Camp Discovery

Camp Discovery Camp Discovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enviornmental education. Camp Discovery is proud to be the lead model site for NASA GLOBE Goes to Camp.

Camp Discovery has been serving children and families since 1985 with nature-based experiential learning. Located on 115 acres of conserved property, the camp offers programs, camps, and mindfulness walks in nature. Our signature NASA DISCOVERIES STEM Enrichment Project engages children and families in citizen science. The Center for Inquiry 5th graders joined us at Camp Discovery for a morning of team building and FUN! They participated in 4 elements that required them to work as a team, use positive language, reflect and find ways to make progress! All four teams did an amazing job! The future looks bright for our CFI friends! We can't wait to learn with your kids, teachers and chaperones again next year!

K-12 teachers! The Champions of the Environment grant application deadline is Tue., Sept. 15. The Champions program awards grants up to $2,500 for projects that protect the natural world and boost environmental awareness. Visit the Champions of the Environment website to learn more and apply for the grant.

In addition to a cash award, grantees also have their projects highlighted on the Champions of the Environment webpage and social media. Previous grant-funded projects include:
Sustainable energy
Habitat restorations and wildlife oases
Pollinator gardens and bee hives
Hydroponics and sustainable gardening methods

The grant program is sponsored by the SC Department of Environmental Services, Dominion Energy, and Sylvamo, with assistance from the Environmental Education Association of SC.
