Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity

Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization seeking to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness, and to break the cycle of poverty fostered by inadequate housing. Since 1990, we have been working alongside our dedicated donors and volunteers to make decent affordable housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and reli

gions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. To date, 111 homes in the Hilton Head and Bluffton area have been built for deserving families who now have safe, decent, affordable shelter.

Last night, around 300 people gathered at First Presbyterian Church Hilton Head Island, SC for a concert featuring Mac Powell along with Lavon Stevens and friends. It was a night of wonderful music, and of hope of finding solutions to affordable housing in our region. Together, we raised enough money to build 1/4 of a house. All in one night!
Big thanks goes to Mac, Lavon, Stephen Arnold who worked so hard to make this event a reality, our friends at the SERG Restaurant Group, members, elders and staff at First Pres., Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, Heather Rath, The Sea Pines Resort, Coligny Plaza, Caitlin Lee, and Pinnacle Financial Group for making this such a success!

This month, we celebrate the many Habitat for Humanity builds taking place in local communities. As we come together to build a world where everyone has a decent place to live, may the joy of people being themselves and being accepted fuel our actions for equity.

Last night we had the most fun at our annual volunteer appreciation dinner. We celebrated all of our volunteers who work at The ReStore - Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity, work on home repairs, and build homes. We laughed, ate lots of good food, and thanked our volunteers for all their hard work. This organization doesn't accomplish anything without the time and talents all of these individuals. We also gave away our recognition pins. For each 100 hours, volunteers recieved a hammer. If they served more than 500 hours, they receive a pin for a house. We absolutely love our volunteers. Here's a handful of pictures. Go to https://www.habitathhi.org/photo-gallery1/2023-volunteer-party to see more pictures.

πŸŽ‰πŸŒŸ Celebrate Juneteenth with Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity! πŸŒŸπŸŽ‰

On this significant day, we join the nation in commemorating Juneteenth and recognizing the importance of freedom, equality, and justice for all. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas, two years after its initial announcement. It is a day to honor the resilience, courage, and achievements of Black Americans throughout history.

At Habitat for Humanity, we stand firmly against systemic racism and strive to promote inclusivity and equality within our communities. We believe that safe and affordable housing is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all individuals, regardless of their background.

One way Habitat for Humanity is fighting systemic housing discrimination is through our Advancing Black Homeownership Program. Learn more here: https://www.habitat.org/our-work/advancing-black-homeownership
